GTA 6 will take 3 years to release on PC, or somewhere close to that, and who knows how long that GTA 6 Online will take to release. GTA 6 isn't going to fill the gap, as most people I suspect, are just going to play it, beat it, then move on.
As far as PC, I suspect they'll kill online for V upon VI's release.
But this is just my opinion. Whether they kill V's online all at once or sequentially is anyone's guess.
GTA Online was crafted out of GTA V, so unless Rockstar are planning to overhaul GTA Online, which I doubt, then the current GTA Online will be killed once GTA 6's GTA Online releases.
This is Rockstar and TakeTwo that we're dealing with. The only thing on the minds of the top brass in these companies, is money.
In with GTA6 / Online and out with GTA5 / Online is the way of the corpos. Planned and forced obsolescence.
That's true, and since GTA Online will always make money, then it would make no sense to shut it down, even if it's no longer getting updates.
Money is the name of the game for Rockstar and Taketwo. If GTA Online is still making money, then there's no way that Rockstar isn't going to keep the servers alive. Not to mention, that there's the possibility that people may not even like GTA 6, far stretch though it is.
She MEANS, if you successfully build the empire GTA encourages you to build...they will ban you because they think that you will be tempted to buy "Shart Cards" to catch back up to your former glory.
GTA Online in it's current state will be shut down as soon as GTA6 is released, so THEN they can sell you the new "Whale Cards" they are coming out with..... Shark Cards will of course be obsolete and therefore worthless.
