GTA V Launcher Has Stopped Working (Tried Evthing)

Pretty sure I tried everything on here that people say fixed or didn't fix it. I reinstalled the game (deleted the files manually too). Tried verify cache, tried socialclublinstaller BS....still crashing.

The only thing I changed was my video card which I'm thinking is probably it. I heard someone on here rolled back their drivers and it works....? If that makes sense. Nothing else changed. I'm only running Teamspeak and I guess anti-virus (which I tried disabling). Nothing else in the event viewer.

Could it possibly be using your on board graphics card instead of your new installed one?

Direct x 9 @ 690 x 486 resolution in window mode ?

I would try turning off teamspeak (for testing)..
And go to my documents / rockstar games and rename both gtav and social club to -old

But yea, video drivers depending how they were installed could cause problems.
I'd suggest a DDU safemode uninstall - and clean install them.

If you reinstalled the game you covered vcredists, dxsetup, socialclusetup.
Manualy deleting the files covers potential left over mods. Very strange nothing in logs.

The errors in your logs generally point to usb devices, overlay software, or mods.
The original post here says you manually deleted the gtav folder and reinstalled.
Assuming that is still true and nothing has changed since...

Unplug any usb devices except kb/mouse.
And close extra softwares that have/use overlays as a test. (including disabling steam overlay)
And of course - if you DID add ANYTHING to the gtav dir - remove it (unless commandline.txt)

If and when it starts working, you can enable stuff one at a time and find the culprit.

Thanks for the reply. That original post was the readme from the steamapps/common/gtav folder, not documents/rockstar/gtav.....which was incorrect, right?

I definitely never put/took anything in the folders. I deleted all my GTAV folders because I was so annoyed with this bug....losing my story mode etc. Still doing it...so it can't be corrupted file (right?)

The thing is....I never had this issue until November (ish). Played the game perfectly fine since launch up until then. The only thing I changed was my video card and I happened to be in the middle of a 1 month break from GTAV at that time. It started happening when I went back to playing but I just can't recall EXACTLY when this started....

Aside from the video card, I got a gaming keyboard as well (logitech g710+) which i thought MAYBE was doing it, but i tried with my old keyboard and it still did it.

Why is it random how it crashes though is my question...sometimes right from the launcher, sometimes on the R* loading screen, sometimes in the game loading screen.....anywhere.

I'm not running anything in background (besides teamspeak/anti-virus/same stuff as when it WAS working). I never use mods either.

If I'm sounding stupid, sorry, I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm not computer illiterate but I don't know what to do in these cases because I never have issues like this. I'm really starting to wonder if I have the "same" problem as these other people with game crash...

So, I renamed my R* folder to "______ - OLD" and I launched steam (as admin) then launched GTAV and the launcher crashes instantly. What next? o.O

just happened to me..Play then Play Online, it crashes on me but when i Play Grand theft Auto 5 then click Online ingame. im not crashing

Get the newest version - run it to boot into safe mode / clean out nvidia drivers.
Then boot back to normal mode and install the newest nvidia drivers AND then restart.
I would suggest doing a custom install and unchecking the HD audio driver too.
(Unless you absolutely need hdmi audio/video - I'd still do it - and sort that out after gtav works)

Ok will try. I downloaded the latest V and when I launched it, it came up as a zip. I can't figure out what to do from there....when I extract it, I can't run it...?

So.....done all that. Just tried launching GTAV and it still crashes (since I renamed that folder).

EDIT: It launched the game now instead of crashing instantly on launcher, but it still crashed when in the menu.

So....I was just playing for over 2 hours without a crash. Longest I've played since this started happening. I switched back to my old R* folder so IF my game is actually working now, that wasn't the problem. I guess it was the clean install mixed with that command prompt stuff.

I hope this is official! (fingers crossed). Thanks for all of your help psykoteky. I will update you after I play next!
