Heavy sniper vs regular sniper
Which one do you folks think is better ?
The regular sniper got a silencer and seems to have a faster shooting speed.
Meanwhile the heavy sniper got more damage. But if you headshot why do you need more damage ? Actually what do silencer do ? I never see a difference in using a silencer ? lol i mean you get cop stars anyway right ?
Or dont i get the heavy sniper ? Was it meant like an anti car weapon? Also what i wonder can the heavy sniper zoom / shoot further ? IF yes that would be cool.
Hints on choosing weapon appreciated :D

Light, because it can be silenced... And the purpose of a silencer is to not get caught shooting someone, especially in missions... If you are concealed or there are no witnesses and you shoot someone with a silenced weapon, no wanted stars, so if you are still getting wanted all the time, you are doing it in plane site of witnesses.... I'm also guessing you have never actually played a steallth mission, which would similarly imply you never played missions in GTA Online, because if you had, you'd know the benefits of a silenced weapon..

in all the stealth missions you get given supressed weapons anyway though, and it confers no benefit at all in free roam since you're a big blob on the map (unless you pay lester howevermuch)

But it is... Not getting hunted by the cops alone is worth it... And if you are sniping someone from a roof where no one can see you, no stars... At least not unless you keep shooting from the same spot for several shots in a row... And in a crowded sitaution where you have multiple people around one area of the map, a silencer can do a lot to keep other players from actually knowing who's shooting at them... There are uses for silenced weapons... They are far more worth the investment than pink tire smoke is.

If all you are going to do is pull out your silenced weapon on the sidewalk and start shooting at someone down the street, yeah, it's pointless, but if you are actually going to use stealth tactics or get into a secluded firing spot (like a roof, or the top a crane, or a mid-level on a parking garage or something like that, not having a silenced weapon is stupid.

And though stealth weapons may be provided in all required stealth missions... They are not supplied on all missions where stealth can actually be applied.

And where I find stealth weapons the most useful in Free Roam is when someone calls in a Merryweather hit on me... With normal weapons, they just home in on you, every time... If you are using cover and silenced weapons, they tend to know within a block of where you are, but then run around confused... Cops can be handled the same ways.

Note that I don't even have a character with a good stealth skill. My main is currently lvl 190, is maxed on Drive, Endurance, Shooting and Flying, about 50% on lung capacity, a measely 13% in Strength and something like 33% in stealth... The stealth system is so easy that you only need skill if you plan to sneak right up on someone.. Further than a couple car lengths away from them, or hiding behind cover and it doesn't mean a thing.

Ick!... The Marskman Rifle, really?... That thing couldn't kill a pigeon with a single shot between the eyes... Switching between a regular, silenced sniper and an advanced rifle are far more effective than that over-sized peashooter will ever be, but your type are all the time trying (and sometimes succeeding) to marksman rifle their way through the stealth missions and it just cracks me up every time I hear it: Pop-pop-pop-pop... Yup... never a single shot... Always fired for several shots as fast as the person can pull the trigger, but I can kill anyone you can with one shot from the sniper or a brap from the advanced rifle that takes as much time as the first shot from that rifle.

Heavy for 1-2 shot quick scoping, light for the silencer, and the marksman sniper for the no skill spammers.

Heavy for killing players, silenced sniper for steath.

Haven't purchased the marksman rifle, it's garbage.

OP, I go with the heavy rifle every time. It will one shot anyone below level 100, and it has a faster firing rate. Of course context matters, but usually the heavy rifle trumps the slow firerate and low damage of the normal bolt sniper.

You do realize strenght affects your damage resistance right? You should've leveled that up a long time ago, it makes a HUGE difference.

For someone that claims to be level 190, you sure don't know a lot about the weapons. The marksman rifle is great for a lot of stealth missions. It one shots unaware NPCs easily. For example on the stealth setups for humane lab and series A against the lost, the marksman rifle is the perfet weapon to use. Last time I did the humane lab setup, I killed every single NPC before anyone else could get a shot off, because of the quick firing speed of the marksman rifle.

Anyone tested the heavy sniper against cars or armored vehicles ? For example would it easier to kill a driver in an insurgent or people in armored stretch limos ?

So far i didnt have the marksman rifle on my radar, i always thought it was a noob sniper for rank 1 to get started so they dont have to run around with pistols :p

Also ofc i played missions, but im mainly talking about silencers in free roam. And in free roam the silencers seem really USELESS. Unless you mean that silencer only work vs the dumb NPCs anyway. And since the npc search algorightm is crap anyway you dont need silencer for them...
What i mean is if you do pvp against other players it seems silencer doesnt do any difference ?
Or i might not noticed it idk. Also yes i like shooting from roofs :p

Heavy deals more than twice more damage than regular, while regular is almost equal to marksman. I.e. regular sniper rifle is total trash. Do not buy it under any circumstances.
If you need good scope - heavy will do. For stealth kills with silencer - marksman.
