NEVER BUY A WD CAVIAR GREEN HDD for GTA 5 or any game
My experience with a Western Digital caviar green 1tb 5900rpm hdd with games has been orrible in these years. So to whoever is making a pc, a powerful one or a cheap one, if you want to play GTA or any game, i'll advice to buy at least a 7200rpm, so be very careful..
Here's my video where i show what happenes.

why you went for 5900rpm in the first place? they are just for backups
Ifodder 4 ENE 2016 a las 10:38
5900 is really slow, I use a Hybrid drive & it's speeds quite impressive for a fraction of the cost of an SSD

Yes i know.. A few years ago i took this because i went out of money.. As soon as i can i'll replace it or add one with a 7200rpm caviar blue or black if i can

A few people that i know made this same mistake so i made the video to let people see what happenes.. that's all ;)

throw GTAV into your SSD, problem solved. :steamhappy:

I saw a video basically stating that disk speed isn't the only factor in the performance of a hard drive:

Lesson learned. Good on you to help others though! Though as you learned already, WD Green drives are meant to be used sparingly and not running all the time like other drives specifically because the WD Green are meant to be used as backups and storage drives; nothing more.

Kind of like trying to drive a Class E car on a race track. Sure you'll make it, but you'll ♥♥♥♥ up the car in the process.

All green and blue - crap. Red works for me.

Yep.

Though most new hard drives these days, WD Green or not are loads faster than drives from a few years ago. So a new WD Green will be faster than an older gen WD Green, probably because they are more efficient.

I run WD Blue 7200RPM at the minute and all my games run perfectly fine without producing too much noise, I don't really use my SSD for gaming because of the limited reads/writes they have compared to a mechanical drive, plus there's no real need in the real world. Only load times are going to be a bit faster.

thank you all for your comments :D appreciate them all.
The thing that makes me veeeeeeery angry is that i have a beast here..
except for that hdd.. I hope I can add a red 7200 rpm very soon.. for example just a few minutes ago i started the fleeca job.. well the screen stucked on the planning room, but the game was still running.. fortunately i had the map working so i drove the car and made the heist all blind.. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hdd

The vid linked basicaly argues density vs spindle speed, which is a decent argument. A higher density disk need not spin as fast to transfer as fast. However slower spindle speeds also mean slower tracking times, which results in higher latency, which is bad for high speed data streaming needed in games.

the caviar blues are good budget drive what are you on about?. The greens are supposed to be back ups thats why their sooooo slow and thus they are ♥♥♥♥. the Blue's on the other hand are the mid level gaming drive next to the black which the best but more expensive thus people buy the good old blue's.
