That aside, the launcher is for DRM purposes.
Out of context but I love how you say you avoid buying games on steam with 250+ games lol, how much games do you actually own?!
ah ok thanks for wasting my time
How do you want to coordinate the crossplay of the game on 3 different platforms without own launcher? Socialclub version, Steam and Epic store
Microsoft is brewing their own soup in their own store with crossplay option to the xbox or Sony offers a similiar service to play Playstation games on pc.
The simple answer to family share is buy the game as gift for your friend while it is so often on sale and you can get keys below 10$, sry if this is still too expensive.
Family sharing is awful and so often broken while you need to constantly relog with acc data of the other members, because something got up- or outdated.
The playstation system was so much better in comparison, when it came to library usage of your friends.
every bigger multiplayer title use their own launchers
same goes for EA and their origin store or Ubisoft and Uplay, you can be happy that EA returned to steam while it had a longer break and tried to avoid the market of its competitor
