Downloading the same game on another Steam account, ¿is it possible?
In my family we have two different Steam accounts. At the same time, we have two different accounts in Rockstar games.
I have bought another GTA 5 game and when downloading it, the download overwrites the game already installed on my sister's Steam account... even though I downloaded it from my Steam account. If I try to uninstall the game, Steam deletes the game from my sister's account (and her screams can be heard all the way to China).
I was planning to have my own GTA 5 game on my personal Steam account to use, in turn, with my personal Rockstar account. But I can't find a way to delimit the existing installation of GTA5, on my sister's account, with this new download.
I hope I have explained myself well. I can't find a way to ask support about this because they direct me to Rockstar support and they don't have a solution for me there. The solution would be that there is a game launcher in my Steam account; and another different launcher on my dear sister's account.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Steam should just be seeing the existing install - and not doing anything.
It would be silly to 'need' to install the game 2 separate times.

If you want a different launcher - the easiest way would be to buy R* or EGS version.

Thanks for your answer.
I'm not familiar with the R* or EGS version.
What do you mean and what should I do?

Gta5 on pc has 3 different 'versions'. Steam, R*'s standalone, and epic game store. Those 3 platforms would 'allow' you to install the game to different locations. They are all going to still pass through the R* launcher though.

If you are needing 2 different 'copies' of the game installed due to reasons like... modified storymode or something - you can always make 2 copies of the game, and automate the renaming of the folders. Really need more details on 'why' you both can't play with the same basic/core files of the game unless it is just confusion.

I have no doubt that it is confusion or complete ignorance on my part.
The question is: can I launch the game from Steam on a different account than my sister's on Rockstar? If the answer is yes, how do I do it? Because the game doesn't ask which Rockstar account I want to play with. Is there a way for the GTA 5 launcher to allow me to choose one Rockstar account or another?

You want to play, you log into 'your' steam account'. You play the game- it should be launching the R* launcher, and you either sign in, or auto fills and off you go to play. Sister wants to play. Signs you out of steam, and signs into her steam account. Loads up the game which opens the launcher, and either auto signs her in - or asks for credentials. The R* launcher being stuck open here (or starting with windows possibly) could be an issue if it automatically signs in.

I do not have 2 steam accounts/copy of the game to verify this. The R* launcher itself with the remember me/autologin checkboxes could be causing an issue here. One thing is for certain - you cannot be on your sister's steam account, start gtav, and log into your social club account.

If you need to remove autologin/remember me - and 'start' the R* launcher, manually log in (whoever is playing), and click 'play on steam' to 'pick' which account to play... You can also manually open the R* launcher and sign out - to get back to the remember/autologin checkboxes if I remember correctly (else, it is some file deletion to reprompt the options). /funstuff

1 steam account, 1 cd key, 1 social club account.

When I start the game with my Rockstar account, it asks me to update the game activation code on my Rockstar account. I go to the Rockstar account to update the game code, and it tells me that it is already used... And it is logical, it is a code activated in my sister's rockstar account. Obviously, for each Rockstar account you must have a GTA 5 activation code (unique).
Now, to have two GTA5 activation codes, I need to have two different GTA5 games on my PC... and, for that, I need the Steam launcher to distinguish between one game and another and apparently, that cannot be done do; Or they should do it from the support... or, maybe there is a way that I don't know.

The steam account you are posting from has Rdr2 (hell it has gta5 from 'earlier' too) - which likely means that steam account is 'already linked' to a / hopefully - the correct social club account. In the past - when you purchased a R* game on a steam account that 'was already linked' to a social club account - that key became quickly used/linked 'to' that social club account. Are you 'not' on your steam account? You should log into your steam account - the steam account that just bought gta5.

Barring that - you can also get a code already used/error due to other problems with the R* launcher, admin/permissions, and in the past av/security, date/time sync, onedrive, account/email/hacked related issues.

You need to simply log out of steam, and gta5 and the launcher. Go to social club website- and log in your account - then look at games, characters/profiles, and account settings / linked account tab. If your steam account is not showing up as linked to your social club account - there are other issues. If your sister logs into her social club account on the website - and she doesn't see her linked steam account - there are issues. If she doesn't have rdr2, but it appears on that R* account, there are issues.

The steam user/cd key for that user - is the differentiation between the 2 rockstar accounts.

You have 2 steam accounts - YOU/SIS. You have 2 social club accounts - YOU/SIS
You should be able to log into YOU/social club website and see YOU/steam account linked.
You should be able to log into SIS/social club website and see SIS/steam account linked.
If this is not the case - something is busted, wrong, hacked, messed up and only R* can fix.
(unless there was social club account theft, and recovery emails but I digress)

If you were one of the early users of familysharing/loophole shenanigans and used the gta5 cd key on the wrong social club account - only R* can help you. The accounts are not tied to 'a game installation' / basic core files.

This conversation has been very useful. I'm investigating the Social Club and I see that Steam is linked to my sister's account and that's why when I want to launch it from my account, it redirects me to the code activated in her account, which is not activated in mine. It's clear, since my Rockstar account is not linked to Steam, the game does not start. Now, in my Rockstar account there is no possibility of re-associating it with Steam, I understand that there must be an automatic connection between the servers and when I verify that Steam is linked to another account, it does not appear in mine. There I am stranded. Or I buy a PC; or I buy my sister a ticket to Romania and make her forget about GTA5. I'm analyzing what suits me best.
Again, this conversation is very useful and I am extremely grateful. You can count on my friendship and my help in everything that may be useful to you. :)
to dinSheldon:

SUGGESTION.... SINCE BOTH OF YOU USE THE SAME COMPUTER...SOME ONE 'GET A NEW COMPUTER, IF POSSIBLE...' AND (buy) YOUR OWN COPY OF GTA............PROBLEM FIX :)

(AND use a differnet email address....too)

The problem is not GTA 5! The problem is that all my porn is on that PC and I don't know my sister will let me take it. (It's a joke).
Well yes, you have to buy another PC. Actually we already have it. It happens that there is a network installed in my house and since we share other games, we both use the benefits of the server and the only Steam. Family loan through.
