How are people setting bounties on me when I'm not even online?

I have barely played in public lobbies so I know it's not that, and I have a good idea of the character name that's setting them, is there any way to return the favor? I usually only play in invite only games and this guy has been harassing me in Steam for my photo uploads so I really want to make his life hell now :P

Also incase he reads this all i gotta say is: You shouldn't have been dropping the carrier in combat if you didn't want your 6m GTA$ bike blown up. I did nothing to you except exact revenge.

Anyway, this is going on personal vendettas level of grudge, all over some silly ingame purchase; I don't really care at this point, but if he's going to keep trying to get at me I'm going to have to call the police IRL, and I will tell them all about the threats he's made against me, and how he's used multiple alts on Steam to harass me :/

I saw your profile, if you're being harassed to that extent keep blocking the alts, that person can't do this all day.

That's just beyond retarded honestly. Over a game? Yeah the gta community is 4chan tier cringe.

I mean, that would make sense, if I had stolen the car the same day, this bounty was placed upon me as i logged in for the first time that day... (in solo invite only session I may add)

You get bounty notification each time you load to new session, so possible you had one active from previous day as well. At least for now cheaters are not able to join your invite only sessions.

I guess that makes sense...anyway I guess that probably was it; I just didn't understand that it wouldn't popup on screen that someone placed a bounty when I did something "wrong" :P

When you steal an NPC's car, there's a small chance you'll get a bounty. You will receive a text from an anonymous person saying "You jacked my ride," and then a bounty of 1K-9K goes on you with the traditional Bounty message. If you switch sessions or go into a halo (a job or race, for example) before you receive the text, it will appear when you come back into your online session, as will the Bounty message.

Is it possible that during this episode with the stalker, you've limited or blocked some in-game text notifications? Because then you'll only get the Bounty message, which indeed would be ominous without an explanation.
