Steam version api64.dll file coming up as a crack in antivirus

Asking on behalf of someone else
They purchased GTAV on steam sale
Downloading game from steam and antivirus said something about detecting a hack tool:win32/crack!pz

Affected items: Grand Theft Auto V\steam_api64.dll

Why could this be if its coming from steam. Is this an error?
what measure can be taken?
maybe download game fully and verify files afterwards?

Or your antivirus is just too sensitive. Chances are coming from steam - it is fine. Verifying the files afterwards.... is going to basically give the same file unless you changed region or something.. and again, likely the same file. Or, possibly picking up some other.. version, leftover... or something is possibly infecting. Who knows without more details on the file, location, compare to others here, etc.

There are plenty of legit files that antivirus throw a fit over.
(you also don't have a mouse icon at time of my post/edit - possible steam lag or purchase delay, on a different steam account to post.. whatever)

i said maybe take the file out of Windows quarantine if that dont work. Should be good as it came from Steam Store.

do not take it out of quarantine
just verify game files

huh? if launcher failed but then steam worked then the dll was fine. that is a steam dll.
uninstall launcher- verify again.

They have it installed on D drive as well but doubt that will make a difference?
i just told them to uninstall R* Launchers and verify like you said.

d drive wont make any dif. and you're welcome

they ended up getting it refunded on steam
and getting R Star app version
they logged in and installed the game
closed out and tried to log in but would not let them log in so they reset password, logged in then logged out and she said the app wont let her log in again.
its strange, hit a miss. surely she cant keep doing password resets.
maybe something it interfering with software.
