bad UI? many people don't know about arrow keys on keyboard? color blind people can't see the red? I dunno :( maybe they see it as optional as they skip the prep entirely ?? maybe they get confused with the mandatory prep "vault key cards" - oh cards? lvl2 cards? yeah I did that. I think? lol?
I think R* went over board with the options here as lvl1 should not even exist.
Patrol Routes: I do this cause it's just a few minutes of taking cover and shooting when safe.. a little patience avoids headaches and unnecessary minutes of unnecessary BS.. These few 5~8 minutes save me from an untold number of quick restarts because someone turned a corner and alerted a guard.
Duggan Shipments: This is what the game is about.. tracking down targets and destroying them for objectives.. if you're bothered by doing this mission, or struggle to get at least 3 targets (the number required to remove helmets), maybe this game just isn't for you..
Security Intel: This is locked until you complete the Penthouse Casino missions. Then, once you complete this mission (which can be incredibly quick & easy if you play it smart), this prep is permanently completed.
Power Drills: Good for getting some extra money if you bring a crew large enough to steal all the primary targets and still have time to open safety deposit boxes.. but this does slow you down and cripple your chances at the 100k Elite bonus. Considering you might make an extra 60k in your take, which has to be split among Lester's crew as well as you and your team, the Elite bonus pays better individually.
L2 Key cards: Not to be confused with the required Vault Key card mission, this is so simple I despite & loathe any host that doesn't have these done.. in fact, I will stand at the keypad and point to it till the host (or someone else) hacks it.. because I want the host to know they are making it hard on themselves and everyone else..
This is definitely one reason I've seen hosts not have L2.. they didn't even know to arrow over to the other options. This is ALSO why I've seen so many players do Bugstar approach to the big con despite having scoped the security entrance in the tunnel..
Mission Specific Optionals:
Silent & Sneaky - EMP Device: Not the funnest mission, and not really necessary, but it lets you kill the lights & cameras on your way out of the vault so you can make a cleaner getaway.. Personally I don't like using this because I'm afraid it might trigger an alarm if used at the wrong time, or since the power just cuts back on without warning, I don't want myself or anyone on my team to be in the line of a guard's vision when the lights come on.. So I typically just rely on sneaking properly.
Big Con - Noose Outfits: You could do Fire Department outfits, and that is a pretty easy mission compared to Noose. However, the trick to Noose outfits is a roof entry and escape. In fact, if you go in through the roof, you can take cover in the stairwell and make most guards come within your line of sight (and fire) down the hallway..

After you've killed the cops inside, run out the front doors to the light pole/flag pole at the top of the stairs coming up from the parking spots, THEN run back inside to gather your outfits. By going outside, you trigger the cops wanted timer for how long they search for you. Once back inside, try to juggle running and walking so that as you exit to the roof, the 4 star wanted search time is almost up.. if you time it right, you'll lose your wanted level as you begin to fly away from the rooftop..
What's funny is if you told new Arcade owner "me" that I'd still do Noose outfits even after I have other outfits already accessible, it'd be dismissed and unbelieved.. but going in through the roof vs the front door is like night and day.. and when I figured out the timer trick, the mission became so easy that now I do it every time regardless if I have help or have to make 2 trips..
there are many alternatives if the casino is too tough with randos for you
It's easy to just melee them if they wear armor
lvl2 security card is the only optional prep you need
but i dont expect you people to ever git gud at grinding the Casino heist
Keycards are only needed for sneaky. In aggro you can use sewers, in big con g6, making cards irrelevant. Of course if randoms use other entries and you see a dot hack, then good luck.
The rest of preps are waste of breath (well that one time camera prep can't hurt).
me and cptbipto57 played it for days back then
