Always start GTA Online from story mode: Menu, Online, Play GTA Online, Invite Only Session. Don't use the ALT character option which throws you to public session.

From public session you can change to invite only: Menu, Online, Find new session, Invite only session. But everytime you start invite only session from public session --> you can get the modded bs carried over to your invite session so for solo players it's always best to start the game thru story mode menu.

Depends on what you mean by safe.

Is your PC gonna get fried or hacked? No, the game is safe. Are you going to get harassed by cheaters using mod menus if you play in public sessions? Very likely.

Oh, and you'll also likely get griefed by legit trolls as well.

PC. Last time I played online was in 2019 (LVL 21). Got back in late 2023 because I heard solo mode is possible. So far only problems I had was some crate boxes or cars spawning in my invite only session. But that stopped when I learned how to launch the game in invite only mode immediately. I'm LVL 130 atm.

It is safe if you play it on a virtual machine. But still script kiddies still can destroy your client. So be sure to take snapshots so you dont lose anything XD

snapshots would not help LOL

Nor would a virtual machine

Nor can a modder do anything that would require using that.
