Well Las Vegas with pyramids and other cazy casinos is cooler than the same mountain again.
and There were plenty of mountains and countryside in the first San Andreas game. it took like 20-30 min to drive one side to the other.
20 - 30 minutes is definitely an exaggeration, I don't really ever remember it taking more than 10 - 15. But one thing GTA SA did fantastically was it FELT big. If you turn the draw distance restriction off or watch some videos on youtube with people using a mod that does you realize how small SA really is.
It's not good, I don't like it either. But if it means Rockstar gets their ♥♥♥♥ to make more GTA's or more of their other games, I don't mind a single bit.
EDIT: I also think they want to make San Fierro and Las Venturas into future GTA maps, which is why they didn't include it in GTA V. Also why it's not named GTA San Andreas 2.
