GTA V - Freezing / Crashing / BSOD issues
Pc Specs:
- i7-6700k at default 4.0 ghz
- Z170 deluxe
- Gtx 980 Ti
- 16 Gb ram
- Window 10
- Samsung 950 Pro SSD

I was having freezing issues after a few hours of gameplay in the game, no "alt tab", "alt F4" or "alt ctrl del" could help me close gta 5 when it freeze. The only solution is to forcefully shut down the PC power. After booting the PC, i have a BSOD error, the error code is WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE error. I was able to play any demanding games at maximum settings however not GTA 5. The PC i had no temperature issues as the CPU also stayed below 60 degree. Power supply unit is at 850w which is more than enough for my system. The BSOD had me reformat my entire system as it corrupted my SSD. Anyone have any solution for me so that i could play this game with no BSOD issues ? Thanks in advance.

I have tried multiple games after i reinstalled everything, from witcher 3 to far cry primal. GTA 5 still freezes after a few hours of gameplay, i am suspecting it is a memory leak issue with the game that increased my memory usage to the point that my PC freezed. I was wondering if there is any solution out there, or is there anyone out there that doesn't have any PC freeze issues.

your z170 delux has a debug led on it, what are the number/letters? that could tell you if it's a hardware or software problem

I wish i had the info however i deleted the game content when it freezed in my PC again. I am actually reinstalling it right now.

As for the NVIDIA service, i have Nividia Experience in my ToolBar. In device manager, i have NVIDIA High definition audio and Nividia Virtual Audio device and Realtek High definition audio on. Should i disable them all ? Lastly i had a Sennheiser 3D G4ME1 audio on as it is my headphone program. Are there any more things i have to take note of when i try to launch the game ?

Its a A0, sometimes its a 40. I checked these 2 postcode and they are both normal as stated in the manual book.

The error that you received was not caused by GTA5.

It is caused by a hardware failure. This could mean a number of things...

1. Worst case, faulty hardware.
2. Not enough power supplied.
3. Loose cable(s).
4. Corrupted driver(s) and/or old/default drivers. (This one is very common, as many people never install the basic drivers that are necessary. Most people tend to just run whatever generic or old driver that Windows installs. You need to install CPU, chipset, USB, LAN, audio, etc. drivers from the support page of your motherboard.)
5. Overheating.
6. Corrupted registry/files.

I would say that 2 and 4 are probably the most likely.

What kind of PSU do you have?

The power supply unit is a corsair rm850 gold. So it should have enough power even when the CPU and GPU is on load. There shouldn't be any corrupted drivers as i have an up to date CPU, USB, Lan and Audio drivers from the support page of my motherboard.

Leave the Realtek. I would definitely disabled the the HD audio and virtual audio device for now.
And stop deleting stuff :) - run a verify integrity of cache instead.

The log file in my documents / rockstar games / gtav / launcher.log should still exist though.

Is this the Log File ?

You could have failing hardware. The likelyhood is rather high, since the RM850 uses cheap, made-in-china capacitors.

Run a stress test, though having default CPU voltage may cause an issue... scratch that. Test the GPU ONLY, not the CPU. If you try to test the CPU with synthetic test, it might overvolt.

I'd actually recommend running Cinebench while running Valley/Heaven on loop. Cinebench won't overvolt the CPU. It isn't a stress test but should put decent stress on the whole computer, without overvolting.

FYI, a error happening AFTER a reboot cannot be caused by GTA5. A BSOD cannot be caused directly by an application either.

So you are still at the mercy of playing / making it crash again and hoping for something to appear there, or in event viewer that can help guide. If nothing shows up... it really isn't gtav that is the problem IMO.

Another thing to check while you are narrowing down possible causes - if you have an onboard gpu/aren't using it - you can disable that too.

Alright, i will give GTA V a try again once it is downloaded. As for the PC specs i have given, could it be having the game in ULTRA being the problem ?

It isn't the game causing the problem ;) The game could just be bringing a hardware/software issue to light.

Try what has been suggested above and let us know what happens.

i have tried it for an hour and the game run fine. It will only freeze when the mem in use increased over time as i play. It started on 4000 mb and kept increasing throughout the game. On top of that, i noticed the GTA 5 is always utilizing 98 % of the GPU, while the CPU is utilizing around 55 - 65 % ? Is that normal ? Temperate is still below 60 for both.
O. Mar 2, 2016 @ 2:35pm
That is with by stopping Nvidia Experience by closing it in the toolbar. Is that the right way to stop it ? I have also disable NVIDIA HD audio through device manager. I will continue to monitor the situation by playing the game 12 hours straight to see if it still freezes. The thing is i wouldn't mind the game crashing however the game freezing is a whole new level for me as i have to force restart my PC.

WALA! All of the problem have been fixed by Psykoteky. There's not a single crash, freeze or BSOD isssus ever since i disable the Nvidia HD audio thing only*. While my rig is running at 100fps constantly at max settings in my X34 predator. Everything in GTA5 seems to be flawless. Thank you for the help guys!.
