Game doesn't stop "running"

When i quit GTA V in the pause menu, the game shuts down but steam still thinks it's running, which means that I can't start it again and also it makes it look like ive played a ridiulous number of hours. The only fix I have is to close the social club ui's in task manager (or restart my computer), which is a pain to do every time. There must be a better way. What am I doing wrong?

Well, You can stop the "Steam still thinks it's running" by going to your Task manager, Click on GTA5.exe or GTA5Launcher.exe and then press on DEL. (delete key)

Ok so it sounds like its just me and not an issue with steam that everyone has. I think the real problem is that rockstar social club doesnt quit when i quit GTA and I have no way to quit it other than task manager. For some reason steam looks at R* social instead of the actual GTA program to determine if the game is still running. I will try some more when I get home.

This is happening to me in 2019. I don't want to End Tasks in the Task Manager every time I close the game. I just got this less than 2 weeks ago, and this just started happening today.
The Cloud Sync Error also just recently started happening within the last 2 days, maybe they're related?
Did anyone find a solution to either of these issues?

Doesn't show up for me in Task Manager, I have to run Taskkill /IM gta5.exe /F to kill it.

Not just you, I have the same issue. I just exit steam.

I just don't really care; the only meaningful result of leaving it running is some guy calling me a loser for playing 200 hours in two weeks, and anyone who cares about that isn't someone I care about.

SAME PROB I DELETED GTA 5 AND I INSTALLING AGAIN HOPEFULLY THE GLITCH WILL NOT BE THERE

I use it ...i tried without it and its still happening ...most of the times i forget to exit SC until someone asks me why i play gta v for 12 hours continiously while in another game

I just remembered a while back it would cause it to “keep running”. Even now occasionally i have to go end process of gta or SC but its nowhere near everytime i launch or i’d research/fix it.

Open Task Manager and shut down gta
