u pay 200 storage fee everytime you use them
you need to fly them first to find your own preference - if money isn't a problem just get both

Everybody be talking about Hydra...

I'm guessing you need to finish Prison Break before it unlocks for purchase?

i have the hydra and all attack choppers.the hydra was my first pegasus vehichle.and i never regreted it once. i always use this bad boy in los santos connection and extradition.although i highly reccommend to not treat the hydra as jet+chopper.the vtol mode is mainly used for landing and take off which is very unique that it can land where most planes can't(sure you can use the vtol mode for combat but it isn' very effective except only on special circumstances.)if you are good at planes as much as choppers. i will recommend to buy the hydra.and since it is on sale for only 2250000.(25%off) you will save a lot of money. p.s, the hydra's missile can lock on player if they are in a land vehichle which is very unique since the lazer and other choppers can't

as for insurance, pegasus vehichles don't require money when destroyed cause 'technically' you don't own it.once you bought a pegasus vehichle, wait for a message to pop(ex: your brand new hydra has arrived at your garage). after you got the message, call pegasus on your phone and pay them 200$ to use the vehichle you have selected. even if destroyed, you can call them back and pick a new one.you can use them in missions, but not in heists.

hydra is worth it. even if you dont have pilot skills it still is the fastest jet in the game (last time i checked in research), it has explosive rounds and cannons. only downside is the jet can explode if it gets hit by a rocket. and it also breaks down easy if police shoot at it. in 3 minutes of cops shooting at it the thing will start smoking and turn off and you will have to parachute down. but what can you expect from american made aircraft? even though they are built for war. they are not..

It really depends on what you plan to use it for, generally speaking for most missions you move too quickly to lock and hit a target. It does have explosive rounds for the gun but so does the savage. Personally I find the savage more useful and just because I think it's going to get censored... sav-age is the word.

edit: wow no longer censored nice, lol. Also I currently have both but I just find the savage to have more useful opportunities, if you're good with a jet however your miliage may vary.

if you want attack choopers, only choose savage or buzzard (cause annhailator is just ♥♥♥♥ and valkrie= pliot no fun and cost as much as hydra).the buzzard's pros are good maneuverabillity, high speed, and good dodging skills. cons are easy to get shot and only fires missiles twice after cooldown(also the miniguns are ♥♥♥♥♥♥). the savage's cons are it's fearsome explosive he round cannon. never cooldown when firing missiles, cons are bad maneuverabillity, bad dodging skills, and a few smg rounds can make the savage start to smoke. in conclusion. want to be speedy= get a buzzard. f**k everything and lets blow ♥♥♥♥ up with firepower=savage is your answer. to unlock buzzard, you need to be lev 43. and for savage, you need to play pacific standard heist-convoy.

my favorite:hydra=savage=buzzard>valkyrie>never buy annnhailator my biggest mistake it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥
The cost impact of a Hydra depends on your level of play. If you're a skilled heister, you can earn enough for one over a weekend. If you knock over gas stations for cash, planes in general are out of your price range.

The benefit of a Hydra are far more debatable. They're not much use for making money. You can't use them in heists, and they suck in most contact missions. If you need a target destroyed in open country on the other side of the map, they can be handy. That's about all they're practical for, though.

If you're considering your first combat aircraft, I recommend a Buzzard. They're fast, nimble, and carry non-explosive miniguns to suppliment their explosive rockets. They also seat four people, and their rear seats can provide an excellent sniper positions.

If you are good at flying and Videogames Hydra is way better in freeroam and some missions. If you only play missions, go for the Savage because it can spam rockets 24/7..

You need to complete the Humane Labs Raid heist setup mission "EMP" to unlock the Hydra.

@OP, I suggest buying the helicopter. The Hydra is only a one seater, and the Vertical Take Off and Landing feature, is poorly done in my opinion, and will cause issues when using it. For example, if you try to jump out of the hydra in hover mode, you'll hit the wing and fall to your death. You won't be able to use your parachute.

Although the savage and buzzard are far more better than the hydra in missions, there is 1 mission the hydra is better the' los santos connection'.
at the last part when you go to the airport if you use hydra in vtol mode. you can swipe every enemy with just a cannon in 30sec. i also tried using the buzzard and savage, but the buzzard took me more than 2 min and the savage costed me like a min and half.i'm not trying to say hydra rules or hydra is better, cause los santos connection isn't the only mission in game.i just wish to help people so players can have fun.

savage n valkyrie are good if you have a few friends = double triple the firepower - if i am solo i will use the hydra hardly ever use the annihalator and only sometimes the buzzard

The Savage can also lock on player just like the hydra.
