yes, its safe. That stuff was leaked a year ago to mod makers. It just went public, that's all.

I heard about some ex R* employee said something about the source code that was 10 yr old and its not dangerous to play online

Just plain old scare tactic. Nothing is going to happen. And yes, playing invite session only is always the safest. Public sessions are full of cheaters/modders and tryhards.

Agreed. People and their fear-mongering won't keep me from playing. Not everyone in the game with a menu is out to get you. In fact, some of the funniest moments I have seen is when modders start attacking each other.

Maybe safe in a way that you can't attract some idiots attention if you keep your profile low because of not being in a public lobby.
Very unlikely cheaters are trying to go for those people that they aren't aware of.
But you really should play with friends you already know and can trust.

It might take a few days or weeks till cheat menus appear that are ready for the leaked code now.

No, they can still gain access to your game even if private by yourself or with friends. People worry about getting banned but there's worse things like the CoD stuff where they can give you malware and remote access your PC.
