gta v - err_gfx_d3d_init
hello, so i recently reinstalled GTA V again, and when i start the game either on story mode or online it crashes after 5 min or so, giving me the error (err_gfx_d3d_init).

so i checked online and i found out it's common error, but nobody seem to know the exact problem or the right fixed.

i tried every possible fixed, like

reinstall, verify game files, reinstall dirctx, and changed from dirctx 11 or 10 or 10.1m, disabling ingame overlay, running the game as admin, and compt win 7 or 8.1.

but still nothing worked, and all my drivers up to date, and my gpu not overclocked and never been which's RTX 2080ti.

so this is my last hope here for someone to help me figure this out.

thanks in advance.

that wont work. those are old methods.

rockstar fixed this bug ages ago for the general public.

this problem means that your graphics drivers are crashing and resetting during gameplay.
have you run "sfc /scannow" in a cmd prompt run as admin yet without quotes?

i just did the sfc /scannow and it said found corrupt files and repaired it, but you pointed as my gpu crashing so i thought i recently replaced my gpu could it be that i need to delete the software and reinstall it?

no to detect the new gpu properly for gtav you need only delete the settings.xml file found in the rockstar games folder in documents.

so i did the sfc /scannow, and reinstalled the gpu software and restarted but yet same issue, so i'll delete the settings.xml file now and see

How come your game worked? I tried a dozen of methods but mine is not working. Status access violation error seems to be coming every time.

I've had this error a loonnnggg time.
What seems to be happening is something doesn't get loaded correctly on a restart.
Because this error happens, for me, withing the first hour.
Sometimes the error will happen again on restart.
But restarting usually takes care of it.

So, if something was truly "wrong"
wouldnt it happen all the time? Every restart.
But it is happening all the time. It is happening since the 15th dec update came. I tried reinstalling, sfc/scannow, verifying the installed files and all that was available on net but it seems there is some bug.

I restart the game and it starts in a windowed screen then as soon as i launch the story mode or any mode it loads and just crashes after loading for a while.

I started having this crash since 2 updates as well - 5800x3D, RX6800, 32GB RAM. Tried every fix except reinstalling Windows. I am not going through this just for 10yo old game. Screw rockstar. I have this problem only in GTA. Every other games runs okay. Its not like I havent played it, I just went back to check the new cars from the latest update which were nice (imo) so its not a big loss in my case.

HAHAHAH! exactly, can't reinstall the whole windows now. I think it is a bug which they need to fix with an update.

Good morning, so that you can avoid modifying things in the software, first perform a thorough maintenance on the video card and the RAM on the motherboard. If you don't know how to do that, take it to a technical service. I had that problem, it just happened to me with I spent almost all the games like this for 3 days until I did a deep maintenance on the PC in general and so far I haven't had any errors.
