I have a pc and use an xbox controller.
I believe ps4 controllers can work.
Hopefully someone will pass by and tell you.
That is if they can pull themselves away from the 6 woke debate.

I havn't tried one of my PS controllers(and my dog chewed up my wire to charge em), Xbox controllers work though. Is this only happening with this game? Also i think steam has some controller settings you may want to tinker with that and make sure its set to use that controller.

also have you tried wiring it to the pc? If not you might wanna try that first.

It works fine for all other games. Even with the games on Xbox game pass that force you to use a Xbox controller like Forza I can use my PS4 controller with ds4 program and never had a problem. This is the only game that I can't play using that controller. This is the only game giving me any trouble

My xbox sesies s controller works just fine. I did not have to make any adjustments. Just launch the game from Big Picture mode, though I doubt that's required.

yes they work just fine I'm using one presently for GTAV. You can either use something like ds4 for windows or just b/tooth/wire it up to your system running at least win 10 and you're done.

DS4 was the first thing I tried with no luck. And I know it's not the controller because DS4 works perfectly fine for other games.

Right click the game in steam --> Properties --> Controller --> Change the drop box to "Enable Steam Input" --- I think it will show xbox controller prompts but it should work

You have to go to your steam settings friendo. When you connect your controller, it will connect yes but in your settings, there is a controller setting. It will give you the options of ps4, xbox, etc.... you need to activate your controller. It's bothersome but it works.

To play with a ps4 controller you have to install a program on your PC. This program will convert your ps4 controller into an xbox 360 controller.

You shouldn't be using DS4Windows for Steam games. Steam Input and Dualshock 4's 100% work for GTA 5 and I used Dualshock 4's ever since Steam got support for them in 2016 up until 2020 when I switch to a Dualsense.

The only catch is that it shows 360 button prompts. Other than that everything absolutely works and you can even map extra buttons like the mic mute, share, or half the touchpad to make things like autorun.

So step one is making sure you have Steam's support for Dualshock 4's configured properly.

Should work just fine. I use my DS4 with an official wireless dongle, and steam now recognizes it. Check your steam controller settings.

To be honest for pc gaming the olde skool xbox 360 controller works with damn near every game that takes controller inputs and they usually have a custom 360 keybind layout. Plus it has native support by windows not needing an emulation driver.
