"soon"

bruv they said 2025. On top of that, if talking PC releases, MY estimate will be 2027-2028.

depend on the platform you intend to use.. if you're using PS5/XSX, then probably worth just waiting one more year.. if you're planning to use a PC, then modders are the biggest issue or concern for playing in GTAV currently.. GTA6 has not even been confirmed as coming to PC, but assuming R* does like they have with past titles, it will be released on PC once they've ported it over and fulfilled their duration for console exclusivity.. but if Console releases in 2025, PC wouldn't be remotely available till 2026.. so, you got 2~3 yrs to still play GTAV/GTAO on the PC..

3 years is how long I've been grinding for everything you can possibly want and own in the game.. all properties, car count sitting at 3 under the maximum storage slots available because I keep a space free in my Agency, Arena War Workshop and my Autoshop so I can modify cars accordingly; not to mention a rank that leaves other players suspicious of my legitimacy..

If by soon, you mean 2026 or 2027 on PC, then okay. That however, isn't exactly soon, more like a snails crawl.

Is this game worth it? Sure.

I doubt it'll be early 2025, probably mid or later so more like a 1 and a half to 2 years, and that's on just consoles. PC usually waits at least an additional year or 2.

so I compiled some release dates (console means at least one console, typically playstation)
GTA3 came out for console on 10/22/2001 and released for Windows on 5/21/2002; 7 months later..
Vice City came out for console on 10/29/2002 and released for Windows on 5/13/2003; just under months later..
San Andreas came out for console on 10/26/2004 and released for Windows on 6/7/2005; just over 7 months later..
GTA4 came out for console on 4/29/2008 and released for Windows on 12/2/2008; just over 7 months later..
GTA5 came out for console on 9/17/2013 and released for Windows on 4/14/2015; approx 19 months (just over 1½ years)

What's interesting is each of these dates, with exception of 10/22/2001, are a Tuesday.. the same day we always get new DLC.. so I think it's a safer claim that GTA6 will be released on a Tuesday than it will be released on PC at all.. that just hasn't been determined or disclosed yet..

Going with the theme, I'd say GTA6 should release for console late fall 2025.. as for making it to the PC, I think the days of porting over the entire game in half a year are behind us. That was when the game was a fraction of the size (and functionality). If there was a gap over 5 years between GTA4 and GTA5, and it's been 11 years between GTA5 and when GTA6 is released for console, then that 19 months will likely easily be 24~30..

IF PC sees GTA6, it likely won't be until April/May of 2028.. (2027 if we're lucky)

i doubt the reason behind putting a 80% discount on a game all of a sudden

If PC is the only platform you can get this game on for, then you already missed out on the magic of GTA 5. You missed out on a fiery playerbase; early years of online had the most consistent and dedicated players, exploits that set the stage for future content drops and dlcs for years to come, and a period of time before oppressors and other overpowered vehicles fundamentally change the way players engage with each other. it was the quintessential smack talking piece of entertainment in gaming for years after Modern Warfare 2 and Black ops. It was so easy to find exploits after they got patched and the piracy detection on console wasn't nearly as sophisticated as it was currently. Sorry, but no. GTA 5 just isn't the same anymore in late 2023. And don't even get me started on the miserable PC portion. It's neglected and not remotely as active as the console playerbase. You honestly shouldn't expect anymore updates to grace the PC platform.

The only reason you should download this game as a PC player is if you intend to do roleplay.

It's honestly not the first time it's been on sale like that and it won't be the last.. R* doesn't make money on selling a user license for this game, they make it off selling players shark cards.. which is something many beginning players do when they blow that $1m starting cash on car mods, clothes and guns instead of grinding a few missions and then buying an apartment to do the classic heists.. or grinding the 11 Dax missions, which rewards the player both the acid lab and an ocelot virtue; not to mention the cash reward for each mission, and then building on that cash till a MC business is on sale, the arcades are on sale (because you don't want to buy an arcade north of the Casino's latitude), or the sub is on sale..

I've seen players start and they want the Nightclub right away, or they want the hot rides that are 2m+ and carry their prestige because of the grind taken to achieve them, or they want to buy a hangar and get the new VTOL F-160 Raiju.. so they buy shark card after shark card.. before you know it, they're buying in game cash just to get a yacht or the gold luxor jet.. smh.. sorry to go off on a tangent, but yea, R* makes money selling shark cards to instant-gratification addicted players..

I can not even begin to understand the dread of actually grinding in this game out of necessity or buying shark cards. The gameplay loop would become rapidly dull; not to mention other players are LITERALLY incentivised to grief you after spending HOURS of grinding. It's just all so ridiculous. I am grateful that I started playing in 2013 when there were modders on PS3 who gave me hundreds of millions of dollars that allowed me to transfer over to PS4, and then over to PS5. I have never spent a dime on shark cards and I was always able to get every single item in the game and after each new dlc drop over the last 10 years. GTA 5 is online is INFINITELY more fun as an interactive sandbox than a slow hog grindfest.

is it worth buying the game in 2024

You and only you can decide to buy GTA 5. Asking others is pointless and you get a mix bag of thoughts and opinions.

Your wasting your time asking. Only yourself can decide if the game is worth your time or not. It's easy for me to say 'BUY' but end of the day it's not money im spending.
