Any way to stop rockstar games launcher from updating?
I know this isn't really the place to ask but i can't find an answer on google about the launcher itself.

Used to be able to use -launchdirectly as a launch option for gta5 and it would skip the launcher updates. Haven't tested recently to see if it is still available/working.

edit - So you post about this in the gta5 instead of rdr2 area..,, ok. It 'could' technically be avail for rdr2 launch too but whatever. Hopefully at some point in the future the intermittent drm, or minimum launcher/sc version requirements after updates, don't come biting.

edit - I'm not confusing anything. Skipping the 'launcher' prevents the updating OF THE LAUNCHER. The information I gave was explicitly for 'skipping' the launcher, so it didn't self update- has jacksquat to do with gta5 updating. Then... magically... 'but I need this for rdr2'.

You could just as well tested it on the end of a shortcut, or in a commandline.txt for rdr2 itself. There is zero confusion on this end with the information initially given. But yes, lets just keep changing variables (or not give that info from the start).
People and their withholding of details. /smh

edit -
tested on steam rdr2, after a long delay 'starting' - the launcher still updated.
tested on steam gtav - r* launcher was skipped entirely, no update, failed to work.
(possibly due to the june change requiring 'logins' and no more 'auto steam login)

Enjoy your other solution(s). Quite common, and forefront with adequate details.

i'm not trying to play gta5, I just want to keep the launcher offline so it doesn't update anymore.

nah i'm not trying to stop it from updating because of gta 5, i have RDR2 and i just don't want the launcher to update anymore so i can keep using it
I tried to make an exception in my firewall so that it can't connect to the internet but it still does for some reason

NVM I figured it out, if you want to make rockstar go permanently offline you have to go to C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Social Club and make an exception in your firewall to stop it updating as well as the exes in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher

Well i don't own RDR2 on steam and I do own GTA5 I own both legit and they use the same launcher so it still applies here really and i'm not asking how to not update the game which you keep confusing I was asking how i can stop the actual launcher from updating but i figured it out

the eula says you are required to update so i dont think the option exists.

try the speedrunner website, some of the speed runners have to use spacific versions of the game to be able to do runs, so im pretty sure theres a way you can do this.

good luck

a eula only applies as long as it has access to the internet so just remove it's access to the internet
