Unable to achieve gold in flight school helicopter speedrun
So I've been trying to achieve the gold metal in the second helicopter training quest for the flight academy for a few hours now but I'm always coming up a few seconds short out of the gold medal, my best time was 2:13 minutes, due to me not being able to time the landing correctly either I crash somewhere or I miss the helipad. Anyone got any tips on how to make the landing part a little bit smoother? I watched some guides on it and tried to do the same as the videos but I'm still unable land it right on time at best I managed to almost land it on the left heliped instead of the middle one for the mission. I'm using a mouse and keyboard, wasd and numpad I haven't altered the default keybind and before anyone suggests using a controller I don't have one and I'm also unable to buy one.

I'm not sure if this is the mission you are talking about but it looks to be so. in this guide it explains kind of some of the principles of flying a heli in gta. Mouse and keyboard are pretty tricky to fly on and i pretty much exclusively use controller to fly in gta simply because the controls are much smoother and easier to understand IMO, rather than having 8 different buttons to control 16 different things you can have 2 sticks to angle the heli in any direction you want to. Id encourage getting a controller, even a cheap one from amazon or whatever would probably do the trick. sorry i cant help you more. Good luck though!

IDK if it helps cause IDK how you're coming into your landing.. but I've found the fastest way is to break your approach momentum by pitching back and using reverse/downward thrust. You may even still gain altitude from this as your momentum is converted, but once you lost your lateral momentum, you should already be descending.. bring it in normal at this point and hopefully you've managed to shave some time..

Thanks to both of you I ended up managing to do it around an hour after I made this thread (and I had been trying for maybe 5 hours or so before that) thankfully, by just a few seconds but I was able to slow the descent down while on an angle that once I landed I was on the right helipad. Glad that's over with honestly it was sheer luck I managed to land just on the right spot.
