Lagging near a friend
so im playing with a friend, and both our games run ok when not close to eachother. but the moment we're close to eachother the game gets super laggy and rubberbandy. any possible fixes to the problem?
i dont know my NAT type or my friends, and tbh i dont rly know how to change it

you can check your nat type in the social club menu (home) and go into the cogwheel> select network info.

and you are dealing something called desync. it happens to a lot of people who may have conflicting nat.

If you have a modem and router that are not in the same device, you can just plug your ethernet cable into the modem directly to bypass the firewall. This way you have Open NAT Type.

or just enable it in the router.

also some people have networked modems that use 4G or 5G to work and that would prevent you from doing that.

what i dont advise doing is removing your firewall for ANY reason.
get to know your firewall and enable UPnP if you have it or enable bridge mode.

I don't have UPnP, i can only use "Exposed Host" that deavtivates the firewall for a single IP so my gaming computer. I only activate it if i play anything online. After it i just deactivate it again. The computer itself has it's own firewall, so it doesn't matter if you bypass the router firewall for a few hours. I wouldn't do that if i would play from an office where any important business data is stored. But if private users turn off their router firewall for a while that doesn't really matter. Bad things usually happen only if you are really targeted for some reason, this doesn't happen randomly. A weekly malware, spyware and virus scan is enough to be safe.

My old router had UPnP but the one i have now doesn't. And only using porforwarding doesn't give me Open NAT Type. So i have to use "Exposed Host".

are you using a custom firmware? i suggest using bridge mode for you if it seems port forwarding doesn't work.
and yes the pc has a firewall a very poor one. routers are nearly impassable though and will prevent anything from getting through. i would never rely on the windows or a 3rd party firewall.
