Shouldn't appear as corrupted unless you attempted to modify vanilla files.
In that case - whichever .rpf you changed - you delete, and verify cache.
(or... copy the backup over that you made.. before modding...)

Using a 'mods' folder for .rpf mods for storymode shouldn't toss corrupt errors.
*and also possibly won't work as openIV is currently having issues

if a file is put in an rpf archive in the wrong place or a file is present that does not belong this will be detected as corrupt files...happened to me when I tried to put loading screens into the game...
I will test after dinner - because I've thrown plenty of files into modified rpf's - and have had no such corrupt file error - especially before putting in updated dlclist.xml's.
(not that is matters currently with openiv broken... *cough*)
You'd think all the people told this already - would understand.

Regardless. I'm done answering this batch of storymode modder questions for this update.

as long as the game is expecting the file to be in the location it won't throw out a corrupt error at least that's my understanding of the issue
Now that openiv has been updated :
Dropped a stop sign mod into a vanilla rpf in the mods folders - worked fine.
Dropped 1gb of pr0n into the .rpf also - game has no expectation of it being there - worked fine.
(yes boys and girls, you can hide stuff in your .rpf files!11!1!1 omg~ /s)

Put the modded .rpf from 'mods' into gtav root - loaded fine. Remove openiv.asi - instant corrupt data error. That alone is the big reason I really recommend anyone new to modding (or even old users - unless absolutely necessary to mod vanilla files) to go to tools / options / 'mods' folder in openIV - and only allow editing of archives IN the mods folder.

When openiv was busted - it didn't matter what you did. Wrong place, wrong files, corrupt files - didn't matter - didn't load mod'd rpf. Means your 'mods' folder didn't work. Also means any modifications to vanilla files would take a dump.

Will test dlclist changes again after dinner without the custom .rpf-
and custom .rpf.. without the dlclist (though I highly suspect it will behave like the pr0n)

You'll have to be more specific in the instance you got corrupt data -
The above instructions are still completely valid.

In update/update.rpf/x64/data/cdimages try extracing any (or all) of the loadingnewscreen ytds from scaleform_frontend_pc renaming them loadingscreenx (x is the corresponding number) and placing them in scaleform_platform_pc. Heck even replacing the loadingscreen files from the pc scaleform file under update to x64b/data/cdimages/scaleform_platforn_pc threw out the same error.

also, gross that you have so much pornographic material
There is no scaleform_frontend_pc - just scaleform_frontend. I assume you meant that. Extracted gtav/update/update.rpf/x64/data/cdimages/scaleform_frontend/loadingnewsscreensbg0-17
Renamed them all to loadingscreen0-17
Dropped them all into mods/update/update.rpf/x64/data/cdimages/scaleform_platform_pc
Made sure openiv was correctly installed. Started up - no corrupt error*.
Deleted openiv.asi (emulating a broken openiv) - also no corrupt error due to 'mods' folder use.
(I put openiv.asi back in before continuing)

*Although- a couple loading screens contain image errors as a difference between the contents of the files with various layers, or locations being incorrect to what the game chooses to use in the image. I'll upload one if you want to see it.

I took more further copies, and renamed them 30-41 and put them in too. No error.

I deleted mods/update/update.rpf - copied in a vanilla fresh one.
Extracted all gtav/x64b.rpf/data/cdimages/scaleform_platform_pc/loadingscreen0-16
Dropped them into 'mods'/update/update.rpf/x64/data/cdimages/scaleform_platform_pc
Started up - no corrupt error.

Reversed it -
Copied all gtav/update/update.rpf/x64/data/cdimages/scaleform_platform_pc/loadingscreens
into 'mods'/x64b.rpf/data/cdimages/scaleform_platform_pc. Running 2 modified .rpf's now.
Started - no corrupt error.

I then renamed gtav/update/update.rpf to update.rpf-vanilla.
Copied over the gtav/mods/update/update.rpf (the one I changed) to gtav/update.
(emulating a modified 'vanilla' gtav file not inside the 'mods' folder but openiv still installed)
Started fine.

Deleted openiv.asi. Started again just to confirm- yep, corrupt data.

Reset my gtav folder again back to vanilla/clean/no 'mods'.
(yes, afterwards all openiv/shv were put back in)

Then for fun - took 1 loadingscreen - copied it many times and renamed loadingscreen0-40.
Dropped 40 into the appropriate scaleform_platform_pc into both update.rpf and x64b.rpf.
Worked fine, no corrupt error (more variations of the corrupt image above - but no error)
I think I tested every way - or atleast - that is all I am willing to do for this.. for now.
(only interested as is - due to the 'corrupt data' error, and the many reasons for it)

You were doing this with a working openiv.asi installed correct? -Not- the broken version? You can't do it otherwise. I was unable to replicate what you were saying is causing issues until I remove openiv.asi. Which - as I said above, has you modifying vanilla files without openiv.

The /s should have covered the pr0n comment - I guess it wasn't clear.
(psst - not pr0n - just large music files that 'didn't belong' - to test what you said)

well you certainly went out of your way to prove me wrong thank you so much
Only in the interest of helping storymode modders - not proving you wrong. I think more people should mod storymode (or SP games in general) - but I understand how overwhelming it can be. The extra info/help might be all they need if they dredge teh googles for help and stumble here.

Happy modding~
