My question is how do they join. Not who else has this issue.
Do they go to some kind of matchmake for that heist or is sending the Game itself the Invite out?
i said they join BEFORE i can turn it off.
also there is a QUESTION MARK. it could be the Game inviting them which means then they are not freeloaders.
i recommend to read something thorougly before making a comment.
Does not matter what type lobby you are in.
The only thing you can do is as quickly as possible get through the first initial mission / job setup screen and set it to "CLOSED". It may / WILL start out as "OPEN" by default depending on when last you have done that activity.
If some get in before you can close it, kick them.
There is not much you can do about it. Because not matter how fast you make it to that second setup screen, they have been ON CALL and the match making in the game will dump them into your activity.
They are notoriously bad at the activity they are CLAIM JUMPING. Most likely to leave early when they realize they can not just coast through and may actually have to play as opposed to just tagging along for the ride.
They will NEVER follow directions and may not have the slightest intention of contributing at all ... KICK THEM. They are just along for the ride and hoping to latch on to an experienced group every now and then and take a FREE RIDE.
Just plan on starting said activity once to set it to CLOSED. And then quit it and start it a second time and THEN invite, or have the players desired meet you in the Arcade (as an example). Once you have set the preference it may stay that way for the remainder of your (the HOST) session for THAT particular activity.
It is a lame ass strategy, and some do it all day and night long in order to cheese a little GTA$$$$.
They often demand higher cuts, when I am purposely trying to do a Casino or Cayo with someone and slip them the 85% cut to help them out, as an example.
Sometimes in life you must take the good with the bad.
The ability to go "ON CALL" with the in-game phone for an activity is a very useful tool for finding other players wanting to do a less often played activity, say the Arena Races for example, but annoying feature when exploited.
I never get anyone joining when hosting
When done, then dump a player back into an online session.
A matchmaking setting can circumvent it.
But then you are stuck with that preference until you change it.
So .... YES, when you start a "Mission" type activity from a ...

Lobby, if Matchmaking is open, and another player is ON CALL, and not doing some sort of in-game in-lobby activity (business or whatever) they can join.
