Social Club Password Reset is a joke...
This is going to be a long one so please have patience...

Recently, I was looking to access my GTAV, however was signed out of Social Club. Sadly me being the kind of person I am, forgot the password. So I did what was best and requested a reset password link.

Can you see where this is going yet?

It's been a week now and I am still not receiving the Reset Password links through emails and after dealing with Rockstar Support for a week, I am pulling my own hair out with stress and frustration due to just going round and round in circles, repeating the same bullsh*t every time. Being asked to check spam and junk inboxes like I was born yesterday, and being told square in the face that I should have received the Password Reset link in an email...Like yeah, you don't think I don't know that?

The big issue I have over everything, is that in this scenario now of not being able to log into Social Club, my password is now apparently reset (confirmed by Rockstar Support). I can not access it at all with any possible passwords that I may have used in the past because it has been reset! Thus meaning that GTAV is completely unplayable, single player, multiplayer, modded GTAV what ever because it's mandatory that you need to be signed into the Social Club. So therefore I've paid for a game in 2021, forgotten the password in the mean time, asked for a reset, not received the reset, and I am now restricted from playing a game that I have paid money for? Surely I am entitled to seek legal advice due to this whole problem just not moving forward or progressing and being restricted from my paid goods?

Some of you may say, why not just start a new email? However this can't be done due to my Steam being linked to the social club I'm trying to access, and if you know, then you can't link steam to a new email address for Social Club. This account is not linked to any other services like Microsoft, Sony, Twitch, Facebook etc so I can't even access it through those means.

In the mean time, as I type this, the position I am currently in is I have been requested to send over screen shots of emails, CD Keys, my Steam Library, all sorts and it's just endless, frustrating faff. Don't even get me started on the amount of times I'm having to repeat myself to different support staff in every email, then continue to wait for replies because I only seem to be getting one reply a day over this last week, with different Support staff who just read from the same script, ask me the same things, get the same answer, and being passed on to the next support staff the following day.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Has anyone else experienced these kind of issues from both Social Club and Rockstar Support?

At this point I don't know what to do, I am just repeatedly hitting a brick wall.

All I can say is have patience and keep trying. Every other day....twice a week...once a week. Whenever you think of it.
It took me 2 months to finally get mine reset and gain access to my SC account again.

I just tried to reset password option and it arrived in 3 minutes after requesting it on Gmail.

What provider are you using.

Also why are you using email tickets for this issue. Talk to a online chat agent and I can guarantee you will have it fixed within 20 minutes.

Mine also came in super quick. Problem was after I went through the whole spiel, I still could not access my SC account. I just kept at it till it finally worked

I reset it and made a new one with this one and updated it in my bitwarden password vault with no issues. Can log in with no problem after this to sc rockstar website and in the game.

I'm unable to reset and make a new one because my steam is linked to the Social Club account. And when you ask me what provider am I using, I assume you mean internet provider? I'm in the UK and using Virgin Media. Never had any issues with the internet.

I meant as to in what service provider as in (GMAIL, Yahoo etc)

Some won't receive emails from rockstar for example YAHOO seems to be wishy with them, sometimes they come and sometime they don't arrive at all, I had a reset once come trough the email a month later after requesting it.

You make a new sc acc and contact steam and go trough the security checks with rockstar support to recover your account, you need to explain to them the issue that the email doesn't reach you, so you need a alternative way to do it.

Tthere are other places, look around in other catagories if necessary. As mentioned, you need to log in with an account to access it, unless changed - they'll likely want proof like screenshots of account, steamid, cdkey, etc. Usually response is under 10 minutes. The buttons for it are further down page - 3, live chat, web ticket, phone/callback.

If it asks for activation code - rightclick gtav in steam, manage, cd keys.

Chat ticket/live chat sits a couple/few seconds, etc - and either opens a window for you to click for chat, or puts another button further down in black for chat - look around. Yes, the site can be wonky. Can also try a different browser, etc. Hopefully site simply isn't having connection issues making things worse. If none of that works out - you can also click my dashboard top right, find your open ticket (if it appears there) and re-launch chat.



Of course - you could just 'forgot password' and slap in all your emails and check them to see if something still 'works' and that may be quicker (and not spam'd / filtered / blocked / etc). Really depends on how you handle... 'that'. Some others (rather luckily), were able to recreate emails that have been old/neglected/deleted/removed and carried on. Of course, browser may still be signed in, etc etc. Go to settings, change info yourself. You may also find old/ignored/spam/filtered emails that look something like this / possibly in different language -

Edit-June 2023 - Yes, due to a recent change requiring people to log in 'again'- many people are finding they've 'lost' their social club accounts for a 'multitude' of reasons. Sometimes this loss was months, or even years ago because steam always auto-logged in. Add on the sale, new users, already linked accounts due to other R* games.. and here we go, a giant mess of forum spam about this issue. /funstuff

edit - some users have come here due to having connectivity/permissions/file issues - that have been having 'similar' errors but the email was clearly 'correct' and worked while connecting to the website. they had better luck powering modem/router off 5-30 mins, and/or renaming my docs / rockstar games to -old and rebuilding that info while attempting to log in (onedrive, permissions, av/sec and some others could still cause issue here).

It worked before so probably a huge issue they can't deal with it anymore.
So write everything in live chat even if it is a few A4 pages before they move it to the email system, then request to speak to a tier 3 support agent via email since the 1.2 seem to not do anything.

Rockstars a literal trash can when it comes to support, been waiting nearly a month for a reply from Rockstar Support just so they can delete a social club account that's linked to my account with one game on it that I haven't played since GTA V came out.

I forgot my password and went the way to a new one. I got a E-Mail and had to click there something. That was the reset. Than i gave a new own password and got a permanent circle around my mouse cursor. so i closed the window and did open it again and sign in again..it worked.
I got a new pc and bought Red redemption 2..and it worked without remember my password. After instaling GTA5 i have been asked for my password. so i did the new one. After that i asked myself how about Red redemption 2 now ?..it still run too.
