Why does the longer this game runs, the worse the performance (stuttering), what's causing it?
Years ago this game runs pretty good in my computer, not to the hundreds of frames but its enough without stuttering. Now, coming back into the game trying it out and the game have stuttering issues, major stuttering issues, Stuttering in just playing the game randomly and even in cutscenes. Today, i just stopped playing gta v and just leave it in the menu to grab something to eat, i came back and my game became stuttering for no reason.

I first thought it was caused by the 100% disk usage but i've fixed that problem and it helps with other games but with this game, performance stuttering still a major problem. I also have tried with normal graphical settings while also verifying game files but it doesn't help at all.

I need someone who isn't a teenager and below to help while also have familiar themselves with computer tech. Also no "update drivers" recommendations please, that suggestion is so often be used in performance issues in games like the chances of that being a fix is rarer than being struck by lightning.

Probably low ram, like 8 gb. It used to be enough, but not any more.

I have 16 gigs, definitely not a RAM issue, even when gta v playing, not all ram are used, there is still a multiple gb being left out unused.

How is set your Windows page file ?
How much free space on disk ?
Do you play in fullscreen ?
Is this really stuttering or you have framerate issue ?

1. Idk what's a windows page file is.
2. I got 100 gb free of space in my drive that is same with gta v.
3. I don't for both convenient and other reasons, if game crashes which i have experiences, i can't alt f4 in a fullscreen game, it doesn't work.
4. I have decent framerates around 30 at minimum but i have reached 60. The frames is playable and fine, it is stuttering that i've experienced mostly.

I have tested in the 3 direct x engines and all of them have stuttering especially when travelling or the game run for too long, funny how i don't have that issue years ago and other games is fine performance stuttering wise.

Anyone asking about help with crashes or performance that doesn't provide their specs and game settings is hard to take seriously.

For all we know you're running it on a i5-3000 and GTX 660 trying to get 1440p.

That said, a failing storage drive or RAM are likely culprits. Overheating CPU or GPU can do it too; do you monitor your temps? A failing power supply can also throttle your processors.

Lets say i do use the specs that you've used as an example, Frames and stuttering is two different things.

You can play a game on 30 frames and have it stable while playing but it is also possible to play a game on 100 frames but met with constant stuttering.

Also you're kinda right that i haven't provided the specs yet.

Specs:

Intel cpu i7 4770

Nvidia gtx 1050 ti

1000gb HDD

16 gb RAM

Playing 1080p, normal settings on all with the exception of recflection on ultra, as for direct x i have tried all three, still stuttering.

Hardware pushed too hard will start to chug. So if the PC is set to lock at 30 fps, it can keep your hardware load down. Unlocked framerate will allow your hardware to work as hard as it can, resulting in thermal or power throttling or otherwise diminished performance.

Have you tried lowering your settings? All ultra on a 1050 Ti might be pushing it. Some of those settings were designed to be sort of future proof and weren't meant for hardware in 2013 and they have since upped the requirements as well.

The game has changed over the years so as stated above with no specs on your gear and your post stating "Years ago" maybe your PC just isnt up to the task anymore I mean your getting worse framerates than a console :steamhappy:

go to the top left of your screen to the help and post your system specs here

I am gonna say its the HDD put the game on a ssd and you would be a lot better off and they are not that expensive these days

I guess it hasn't updated on your end but i do have all of my settings on normal with the exception of reflection.

so you get a minimum of 30 with almost everything on low? your pc can't handle this game.

I don't live in a first world country where i have that luxury of everything not being expensive.

My pc is older than the majority of gta 5 online players but theres nothing i can do about it, i even tried going for a simple mid tier pc with a ssd and the solid 3060 but i still don't have that much money, hell that specs is regarded as high end here in my region.

I also noticed that someone on reddit even with a 3080 and a 12700kf have stuttering issues in gta 5.

their stutters are due to fps issues being 188 causing the engine to hitch. yours is just mot good hardware.

Buddy you can run a game with stable frames while having no stuttering. This game was fine years ago.

Its a link of someone on reddit with high end pc yet have stuttering, you can try figure that one out.

as the specs says as time changed and programming changes will make this game have higher requirements, and i already did explain that one.
