Fun stuff. There's many having this 'issue' for 'reasons'. Plenty of infos in the link(s) -(including recovery, livechat, 'reused' emails, unlinking info, contact links, etc.. etc.. etc)

Hijacked not hacked, fun part is that some of the emails I have seen belong to a person selling gta accounts like on plati etc, so probably what is happening with some but not all is that he is reclaiming and recovering the accounts since the original owner can always recover the account even years later.

Then there are talks in the dark that a certain menu had put in malware to fish details off people's pcs not just social club accounts but your whole password vault.

Then there are people who have used account recoveries to get a large amount of stuff in game that also involved them handing their details to a 3rd party.

Then there also also people who maybe have fallen victim of entering their details to a fake rockstar website ( yes there have been some sites in the past).

And no rockstar is not hacked, if it where it would be up on sites like cve that monitors stuff like that.

Follow these Steps

- The person may or may not make a new account in with your E-mail, if they do login to it and change the email to one of your back up emails and verify

- once that is done, recover your account with that Chinese E-mail, that Email has a recovery link. The link will only work if your E-mail is free, which is why you need to login to the new Rockstar account they made and use a back up E-mail so that your main E-mail will be free.

Ok. This is the first I'm hearing of this, and I've been dealing with it for months. Rockstar unlocked something for me, so I can at least log in, but now it says my steam account is linked to a different Social Club account. Is it best to just create a new account?

no, you recover the account that is linked to steam.

And also note that Rockstar support has a lot of tickets to deal with rn so it might take about 2-3 days for them to reply
