I have 32 GB since i don't know maybe 2014 or 2015 or something.
Only my laptop still has 16 GB, i honestly have no knowledge about laptops, i can't open them i can't build them etc. but i know my Desktop PC's.
youll need 32gb for some of the newer games though
An animal
four module stick kit, on an old board compatible with windows xp or 7 and some of those old boards can even handle windows 10,
if you installed windows10shutup so you can disable microsoft spyware, along with modified mother-board BIO"S and an old 6 core or 4 core for that old generation of base-boards, I just wish I could find the application called Linusshutup so I could block all their advertisements
as long as you have an acceptable GPU and SSD to bypass the data processing issue you will have, if you were to use a mechanical hard-drive from that era, thats dependent on a dated, slow on-board sata controller, really don;t want to try an IDE hard-drive for anything, it will not work.
CPU functions improve with more memory, with more memory, less back logged computing is required, for dynamic events or critical system events when a system is being put to work, less chance of errors with more memory carrying the weight and balance a system for desired speed when multi-tasking, just too take stress off other hardware when having more memory to hold computed information for your applications so you don't have to keep getting back logged computing hick-up's that lower frame-rate's, don't even think of using ECC or registered memory modules for gaming, only a fool would.
The worst thing let alone, most of this new generation of gamer's don't even know how to install anything manually these days or know how to boot a computer off a floppy drive, they still think using cheetah blood as thermal paste will make it run faster, only the rich British who think their royalty are doing it and don't care cheetah's are en-danged to become extinct.

And of course the myth of someone from Microsoft saying;
"640k is all the memory anyone will ever need"
Myth, But his name is Bill.. lol
How about LIM version 4.0? ;)
Stands for Lotus Intel Microsoft & extended/expanded memory support!
