Is GTA V Story mode safe to play
I know there are many issues regarding hackers messing with people accounts and even banning them in online because of their rockstar social account, but is this still a problem even when playing story mode?

Not necessarily given Rockstar's repeated and consistent bungling of things in recent years, and my guess is the genetically engineered trio from that DS9 episode would agree. :dappershark:

Edit: Just to clarify a bit, by default you connect to the Social Club when you launch the game, unless you've taken steps to block that behavior. In that context, yes in Story Mode you're still, in a way, online.

The obvious answer would be to wait until rockstar announces a fix or update to the current modmenu exploit issues...

Worst case scenario rockstar deems the problem too big to fix and just shuts down online completly.

Even if remote code execution is a myth, I don't claim to know on that facet one way or another, they still should've nixed multiplayer online when this current situation began. Force solo only, or shut it down. At least from my perspective, their keeping GTA Online functional on PC in it's current condition illustrates in crystal clear terms their prioritization of making money over the best interests of their customers. They truly have no shame about their greed.

Nonsense!
Just block your ports and stay in Invite Only. 🤷

I mean, it still connects you to R* servers when you log into rockstar social club upon launching game. But i guess you should be unless you played online very recently, then well, if some cheater or script kiddie got your R* account ID or whatever it's called, you might be ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Has anyone actually 100% sure anyone has been hacked or effected in any way? Thus far I have only heard of people who know people who knows a cousin of Vinnie who got hacked.

Invite only isn't 100% safe though.

Not yet, possibility of RCE was, supposedly discovered by the online cheat menu makers, guess they haven't found a way to utlize it...yet. They can still get your ip though and boot you offline, which is annoying to say the least, pretty sure steam might ban for playing with a vpn too, but i might be wrong on this one.

@op - If you are really worried - put -scofflineonly in gtav launch options or a commandline.txt in the gtav folder. Then you can play offline assuming the intermittent DRM doesn't give you issues. Some users just put steam in offline mode (not personally tested this 'recently'). Of course, you can still do port blocks/etc - just remember to undo/remove all of it later when you decide to venture back online. /goodluck~

If my ports are blocked, they can't cheat their way into that session, thus, can't manipulate anything.
If they could, that would mean they could directly manipulate Rockstar's player account servers, or send spoofed data their.
