Cant Get Controller to connect to GTA 5 through epic games

So this used to work just fine for me, but up until recently when I decided to reinstall the game. I'd gone through this before so I knew to open Gta 5 via adding the rockstar launcher to steam and opening it from there, but this time didn't work. I then tried every version of ds4 windows deleting the previous version as I went. Since then I've tried both methods a million times, reinstalled windows, tried three different working controllers(2 PlayStation and 1 Xbox), And nothings working!!! anybody know the problem?

add the game in steam, and use steam settings to use your controller. Not sure on epic

the problem is i don't want to have to buy the game again if i can avoid it

you don't have to buy the game again to add it to steam. click add game in the bottom left, find the .exe for GTA V and add it. Steam can add games to the library that are not bought on steam

you don't have to buy the game again to add it to steam. click add game in the bottom left, find the .exe for GTA V and add it. Steam can add games to the library that are not bought on steam

That's ok. launch it how you normally do, open the steam overlay

You may have to add either social club or epic games to steam and launch epic games that way then GTA to get the steam overlay

No you don't. Add the epic games launcher EXE to steam as a non steam game. launch epic games. launch GTA. open steam overlay while in game

Hmm. I know it's possible.

Try adding "-EpicPortal" to the launch options in steam.

Just launching epic games through steam should give you controller support

Coming back to say it just randomly started working as it did before. opened it through rockstar launcher and it works, pissed it took so long and just randomly worked but happy nonetheless. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
