Constantly GTA 5 installing "Disk write error"
Hello steam community,

I try to re-install GTA 5 thru steam and im getting this error over and over again with no fix solution. I have never had this problem before, it started 2 days ago. I tryed everything on youtube, reddit, internet. Absolutley everything as advice and nothing worked. I went to the extreme and fully re-installed my Windows, delete cleaned my drivers to 100% as brand new.. still getting the same errors. Specifically im getting those "dlc" errors while downloading such as:

"An error occurred while updating Grand Theft Auto V (disk write error): F:\Steam\steamapps\downloading\271590\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpassault\dlc.rpf"

If i delete that dlc.rpf file it will give me another one in different location over and over.

To get things eased up and straight to point i did: re-installed different drivers, fully delete steam and everything from rockstar, update drivers, scan drivers for updates, scan drivers for health, de-activated antiviruses, format the drivers, cleared cache in steam, etc.

Im starting to think that i cannot play gta 5 on PC ever again due to this endless error. If anyone out there knows a solution that works id be very appreciateful.

PS: i also tryed the "steamapps , appmanifest_271590" thing from other topic and didnt work.

Thank you

Could be also that one of your drives or drive is faulty and has a bad bit or sector.

the list is long
could be anti virus which blocks your process because you bought one for extra security

could be dying hardware use one of the hdd check tools, ssd need their own special tools

maybe not enough free diskspace so steam can't reallocate enough space for the process

could be windows security setting which mess with writing privilege while the user wanted to feel extra safe

other third party software like onedrive was also a trouble maker in the past when it comes to the documents folder

this is the tech guy wrote many tutorial when it comes to errors in gta

I disabled all my anti viruses, i checked my drivers, there is 900 gb free space so not a problem. One thing i found is that after playing for a while my game starts to stutters and have unloaded terrain so i check the repair tool on the driver it is installed and it shows that the driver needs to be repaired (hdd).

Start steam as admin, start rockstar launcher as admin and set gta. Exe to launch at as admin.

It says in the end what the error consists of, you have insufficient permission.

How to Run App as Administrator by Default in Windows 11 When you've located the file, right-click it to open its context menu. ... Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab. ... Check the option next to "Run this Program as Administrator." To apply this new choice, click "Apply" and then "OK" to exit the window.

The second one is not pertinent to the disk write error as even I have those distributedCOM
10016 eventID errors in event logger and I have no issues whatsoever.

How long have you had this SSD? Check the ssd health with a tool like CrystalDiskInfo.

Remember storage drives separate from your OS work better for a partition table as GUID with error correction, but need to be de-fragmented with a defrag program from an external company other than Microsoft's defrag app that don't work on storage drives like a SDD or normal HDD if formatted and set as a GUID partition table for speed and better performance for gaming and since you wiped the drive your still going to want to go through testing it and go through the process of wiping free space with an application coded for it, to make sure your old files are deleted and not full of memory tables with corrupted memory sectors.

Remember you can use command prompt with over-ride commands to delete everything you can on a hard-drive that might have hidden encrypted security files that can be linked to an error to try and resolve your issue.

Refer to valid sources and guides for hardware maintenance work.
