O it's contradicting alright. And the more you play and experience the devs and the community and the game the more you will realize just how much so.

Gaming is not a sin. And I aswell for years found this game harmless fun. But once you play online for a while and deal with this community , the rockstar support and devs, and feel the addiction of the game, and realistically accept that mass murder of innocent NPC, drug use, theft, and so on is far from christian you would be shocked that any good standing christian would subject himself to the game. I'm not really taking any sides here or trying to encourage anything but this game is pure evil and christians claim to be combatting evil by nature of their religion. Is a strange contradiction . I do see how this game puts you in a state where you want to just believe it's harmless fun though but eventually the damage becomes very real and evident.

But the effect on the brain and the emotions are very real and the damage very evident in the behavior of the long time players. Terrifying to witness them actually. I don't ever wanna become that.

One must be able to separate reality from fiction, as well as know that such stuff shouldn't be done in real life. If one can't do that, then they shouldn't be playing games. Same goes for movies, TV, videos, etc.

I'm a Christian. I don't support videogames or the violence but I recognize it's fiction and it's only happening inside of a computer and a screen.
