Stealing Michaels/Trevors/Franklins cars

Hi There

I read somewhere where it said that if you steal Michaels/Trevors/Franklins car as one of the other protagonists they text Or call you. I stole Michaels tailgater as frankin but received no such text Or phone call. Michael sent me a text when I stole Amandas and Tracys car. Why isnt it working?

I have found the article. It was on the GTA V wiki page. It reads:

Grand Theft Auto V
Stealing another protagonist's car in GTA V will result in the said protagonist angrily phoning up and telling you to return the car (i.e. stealing Trevor's Bodhi while playing as Michael or Franklin). Despite this, switching to the character who has had his car stolen will sometimes make it respawn.

Surly if it is on the GTA V wiki then it must be true Or are you saying I am gullible:)

This just isnt working for me. I know its a trivial thing, but its the little things that add to GTA 5. I like experimenting with the game it see what you can and cant do. There must be others out there that share my view. I love the game but I also like trying every little thing. I have tried stealing Michaels car as Franklin many different ways but still no text Or call. Anybody? It must work if the source is GTA 5 wiki.

As Franklyn i stole the Quad that was a present to Trevor from Ron
Franklyn customised it and it is still saved in his garage
Trevor has one too that respawned after i stole it
Franklyn never received a message or angry phone call
maybe as it wasnt Trevors main car , so i will have to try stealing that

Edit: Would you only get a Call or Text at a certain point in the game Or meet prerequisites for this to happen. At the moment on Franklins phone there is no contact for Trevor and visa versa. Do I have to unlock Trevors number on Franklins phone And visa versa by doing other missions before the whole stealing thing works?

I dont get it. I dont know what I did any different but it just worked. As Michael I called Franklin to hang out and then switched to Franklin. Michael came along in his Tailgator and got out. Playing Franklin I jumped into Michaels Tailgator and sped off, like I did on a couple of attempts, leaving Michael in a cloud of smoke, but this time I received a call from Michael. Then I thought I would try it again with sleep mode turned Off. With sleep mode turned Off (story paused) I received a text instead of a phone call. Dont you receive calls from Michael/Trevor/Franklin when sleep mode is turned Off (story paused) only texts?

Also does it work on the distance for the call or text to work?
