My Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V: delete the settings file. This will make the game redetect your hardware, and hopefully function better.
Also, GPU's have sound systems in them, try going to device manager, look under sound, find the Nvidia HDMI audio....or whatever they call it, I use AMD....right click, set to
"disable". Reboot your computer.
One question I've got is why the hell in 2015, did Rockstar make a PC game that is incompatible with virtual surround sound, and why have they not patched it to make it compatible. Seems to me that they really don't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the PC version to me.
To be fair, the game ran fine with surround sound software until the Executives and Other Criminals update. Hasn't been fixed since though.
