Helmet unequipping itself?

Specifically, when I enter helicopters, my helmet, hat, whatever, will automatically unequip itself upon exiting. I've tried turning auto show helmet on, off, changing default helmet, different outfits. Nothin'. Just whenever I enter a helicopter I have to re-equip any hat item I had before I got in. This doesn't seem to be the case with masks though, if I'm wearing a mask it will stay when I leave.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix this? It's kinda annoying.

Has never happened to me before, just started when I started playing again about a week or so back. And even then I've only been gone for one update. The odd thing is, I had a game the other day where it wasn't happening, which makes me think there's gotta be some way to prevent it.

Its a glitch with the last patch. Hopefully they'll fix it but dont hold your breath. It dont take but 1 second to re-equip ot.

Yeah thanks. I know it's super easy to re-equip I was just curious if there was a fix or work-around that doesn't involve just re-equipping since that menu can get annoying. (Like maybe a bind or macro to auto-equip an outfit with one button press?)

You can set a macro i suppose. I know ppl that has for snacks/body armor so dont see why not.

The thread is from 2016, but it seems very relevant right now. I've been searching and have same question.

Whenever I enter CEO office in Maze bank, helmet unequips. Using helicopter -> helmet not equipped.

I often jump out of helicopter very close to hostile NPCs and would like to keep the protection from headshots and so far I found zero solutions.

Have outfit with a helmet to reequip it. Btw in PVE helmets are barely doing anything.
