GTA 5 - First time on Windows 10 - lags in loading screen and in-game

Last week, I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Today, I decided to play GTA V again, for the first time on Windows 10.

As soon as I'm in the GTA home screen (where you can choose between different modes, such as Online or GTA 5 mode), the music stops and starts every 2 seconds.

When I choose to play the online mode, the game takes about 15 minutes or so to load, with the music still stopping and starting every 2 seconds.

Once in game (in the garage of my apartment), the whole game lags at the same frequency (every 2 seconds or so). I tried this a few times. Once, I was on a server where people were talking. The talking went UNinterrupted. The rest of the game was still being interrupted every 2 seconds.

What's the problem here?

What I've tried so far:

• Run GTA5.exe and GTAVLauncher.exe in compatibility mode (Windows 8 or 7 and with administrator rights). This causes the game to load, without sound, and the loading takes forever. Never got into the game.
  
• Run GTA5 in Safe mode (from the Social Club screen). No luck.
  
• Updated Social Club (I think I already had the latest version, but just to be sure here)
  
• Updated NVIDIA driver, disabled graphical devices, re-enabled them, no luck.
  
• Changed the graphical settings of GTA to optimal via NVIDIA GeForce Experience.
  
• Verified integrity of game cache through Steam: Was ok.
  
• Ran a benchmark from within GTA, same results. Around 140 FPS, but with lags every 2 seconds.

I just tried a normal start, loading and quit (without killing processes) to get the contents of the launcher.log file.

Time of posting: 00:19:xx. So the log goes back almost 30 minutes.

Hi. Your problem may be due to extermal sound devices, or other devices plugged in. If you do have any of these I would shut them off or unplug them. I had the same exact issue. I am currently using an external sound device. I shut the device off, restarted the game, and it started fine. After the game started, I turned my sound device back on. If you have such, try it. Previously I had tried everything. I looked at the log found in documents/Rockstar/ GTA V and noticed a D3d error. I googled it and it went to rocstar's support site with a thread about that issue. So I unplugged my headset, started the game (waited for a long time still). The game was running smoothly. I then plugged in my headset and everything is working fine now. (Until the next time I launch the game I guess).

If anyone has a more permanent solution, please post.
