So, i'm on with the cayo set up, is it very important to scope the island fully?

Just make sure you scope out the drainage tunnel which is most important

Drainage tunnel is only important if you choose to go that way. But it's good to have that way scoped out if anything for the cutting torch which makes it easier to cut gate locks instead of finding the bolt cutters every time.

But to answer your question, only thing you need to scope out is the primary target. Other than that, you can scope as much or as little as you like. You can always come back and rescope it out before the heist if you choose.

I usually just only scope out until I find the secondary targets I want then I'll leave. Two stacks of coke, 4 stacks of gold, etc.

For quick money, as indicated above you want to scope out the drainage tunnel, your preferred approach (I use the main docs if I'm soloing as it gives quick access to both runway and drainage tunnel when you use the fast boat), your preferred "quick loot" location (if you are going solo, here I use the airport at the beginning of my solo runs) and of course the antenna tower.

On the other hand, it is not a bad idea to scope out the full island and unlock everything possible. Unless I am missing something, with the exception of the loot and antenna everything else stays scoped out forever... so you might as well do it on your first or one of the early runs.

I've done this heist so many times I can do it with one eye shut and a hand tied behind my back. You do not need to scope anything at all. Just get to the communications tower by hijacking a boat near the hangar, and driving it out to the boat dock to the SW (follow the yellow dot), then going straight to the tower, hack the terminal, switch to the basement cam, get a look at what is behind the glass, then exit the cam, get caught by a guard go home, scope mission complete as you have scoped the main target... the only thing that matters to complete the mission and get the $$$.
