Metal Detector

Is the Cayo Perico buried treasure event still happening? If so, how do I find the metal detector? I read something about a blue dot.....?

The blue dot will be near water. It is a random event so it can spawn in any number of places at certain times. I haven't found it yet, so all this info is from what I've heard/read. This vid will shed some light on where to look.

I had to do 10 cayo races and at least win one race to trigger the random event, and it will spawn near dead guy like pictured on beach or near a drainage canal, man made water system leading to ocean, I can't figure out how to use metal detector no key options are displayed so its useless right now for me, so if you know the keys to use it for pc please add the extra help with information since I can provide only what I know based

on the topic, to at least help others get it.

I never did the races prior to finding it... Just happened across a random blue dot and it was a skeleton with the metal detector and a treasure map. Didn't even look up how to find it.

Though I have now done all the races in order to get the Trade Price on that Draugur I just got lmao.

The 10 possible locations for the metal detector are in the same random spawn cycle as the drunk Cayo Perico guard (for the key to the golden pistol) and the Drug Vehicle random events.
So it might take some time until one pops up, as the other two events have 8 and 32 possible spawn locations respectively.

Yeah just play the game and eventually you'll get it. It' straight up pointless to intentionally look for it, cause you will search for a dig at most one time and forget about it. They didn't even add some award/unlock for it. Just some spare change for time wasted.

Thank-you for elaborating the insult and what it was based on, the use of the abbreviation in the context of the sentence with not answering a question is an insult used in the context based on how it was worded.

Also, to add something that's on topic, Tez tweeted earlier today they've applied some background patch to fix the associated Cayo spawns for the metal detector. That doesn't sound like work on finding the metal detector itself, but perhaps that spawn is also something they've done work on behind the scenes.

Thank-you for the added intelligence based on the topic, I had to get really close to the skeleton for any blue mark indication for it to show on the map and before I even tried doing any races I spent a few hours looking for it, to be fully clear I found the metal detector after a race. Thus since the code is connected to the event in the programming of the object, I was guessing that others might be-able to trigger the event at an increased percentage value by racing other than gaining the perk of lowering the price of one of the new vehicles.

Nothing insulting about laughing. o.O It's pretty rude to wrongly assume and accuse people of trolling and insulting when all I did was helpfully respond in the thread pointing out that doing the races is not required.

I simply added the laugh at the end because I ended up doing the races later in order to unlock the trade price on the Draguar and bought it.

It's a shame that it's limited to Cayo, I'd do the metal detector hunts if they were also included on all the beaches in the game, as well as easy access to a metal detector.
