MASSIVE Memory leak? I need help! [SOLVED]
guys! the game keeps on consuming all of my ram until it reaches peak and it thrashed my hard drive! game starts running like crap! this started after the biker update! T_T game grinds to a halt!

when my pc is not in use, os uses up 1.7gb. GTA V USES ALL THE WAY TO 7.2 system ram!

Witcher III and Battlefield 4 has no problem

specs: i7 3770k
msi afterburner
gtx 960 4gb vram
1tb hdd

I play at 1920x1080p mostly on very high settings! no matter what I do the ram usage keeps on going up even on single player which did not happen way back!

here is my screenshot: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/260471959417794589/4BADB98C327143DBE14CFF077FCAD9616BA034E1/

look at the ram usage http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=778666813

UPDATE: Someone suggested over at Google+ [in the gaming communtiy] to reinstall GTA V and Uninstall NVIDIA GEFORCE EXPERIENCE. He told me that Shadowplay has an issue running in the background constantly rendering massive performance loss. I did what he said and reinstalled GTA V and resintalled my drivers without Geforce Experience and it works fine now. I also increased my pagefile from 10gb to 20gb just to be sure although GTA won't utilize that much anyway, I also flushed the steam system files to reset everything. NO MORE STUTTERING

My system has 8GB RAM and if I play with Google Chrome opened in the background the games starts to lag/freeze, it is a very ram hungry game. But it might be a graphic settings or a leak, who knows, try tweaking the settings

I have 8 gigs of ram and the game starts lagging after like 30 mins to one hour of gameplay.

verify game cache.
steam , Game properties , local files

make sure you dont have cracks for windows 8 , 8.1 or 10 , or MS office.
they cause kernel errors and mem leaks.
they don't get MS permisions due to bans.
KMS pico and services is a name i remember.
avoid.

Reinstall Graphic driver maybe and/or other system drivers

check system logs , maintenance history and reports .

if Windows 10 Updates or MS Store is not updated , might cause issues with mem.
so update windows updates manually and MS store too.

in command screen as Admin.
sfc /scannow

to do system integrity check and small repairs .
correct folders and such .
permissions.

try ADWcleaner from toolslib , is a standalone Anti virus tool , it will NOT turn off windows 10 Defender features
it can also remove trojan horses, and fix browser startup page in windows register.

gta is an absolute glutton. idk what advice to give; if you're not already, stay within the "suggested limits" for vram consumption. in my experience, even if the game runs well at first while over that "limit" it'll start stuttering like absolute madness real fast.

RECOMMENDED

OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHz (8 CPUs)
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD 7870 2GB
Storage: 65 GB available space
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible

If GTAV alone recommends 8GB RAM, and your OS needs around 2GB. Random applications and services that are running on every computer. It doesn't take a genius to see that an extra memory module is not wasted money.

If you have just enough RAM, you will use virtual memory alot.. and this is much slower then RAM. Since virtual memory is located on your HD, and in worst case scenario.. you don't have a SSD, your HD runs at 7000 or 10000rpm.. you will get performance issues.

more dedicated RAM could help yes.
or maybe set C drive again for virtual mem if issues. (if you changed location that is)

if system gets bluescreen . check program whocrashed it will give more info maybe what to install.
or what version program is causing errors.

if it happened after biker update then you might think that is related.

if all fails
verify game cache or Reinstall game.
install third party software updates.

I currently am reinstalling my gpu drivers right now without the geforce experience this time. I will do a full game reinstall tomorrow... Too tired now 5am from where I am... Spent 4 hours trying to figure this out. Really weird since months ago I never really had this problem even travelling all of Los Santos. Now... It's a slide show once it hits 7gb

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15090/windows-7-install-service-pack-1-sp1

for windows 10
i also installed from microsoft
Redist visuals 2008 SP1
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582

Redist visuals 2012 update 4, there is an older redist visuals 2012 with game
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
(just the x86 and x64 , not the arm.exe)

Well yea, its obvious its settings related.. I'm sure if he lowers them all, he will get better results and use less ram. But I guess he wants to get better performance with his current settings. lol

I just did... Same ♥♥♥♥. The ram usage still goes up all the way to 7.2 it's not VRAM we are talking system ram here
