nope no fix fir this "issue".
Do you play with headphones by any chance?

It might just be a general issue. However, I know with a lot of games I own that when the headphones disconnect mid-game - It usually requires you to do a full restart of the game in question before it actually picks up.

Is it the only game itself from that you cannot hear? If so, you may want to tweak Audio options. Turning off and on some Audio settings might solve your problem.

There's nothing you can do besides exit the game and start over.

It's amazing how in this point in time, we have technology to play video games with graphics that are life-like, yet alt-tabbing out or putting the computer to sleep can completely cripple said game, causing graphical glitches, audio glitches, ETC...

Temporary solution:
Hit the start button, type in services.msc and press the Enter key.
Next find Windows Audio in the list of services, right click on it, and choose Restart.

or you can try this solution that maybe make the problem go away forever:
click start menu. go into the run command.
type "services.msc" without the quotes
scroll down to windows audio. right click and highlight properties.
go to the recover tab and click the panels always have it set to restart the service.

Yeah, that does work, but it's simpler just to use the quick save function in the phone and restart GTA. It's simpler still to use the quick save function and exit GTA if you have to go somewhere.

Hi, i had the same problem util a week ago, The answer is.
Type Win+R services.msc find "Windows Audio" Off On.
Viola GTA5 have sound now.
I been using it for 4 days now and it is really fast way to start gta5 FAST, 30-40seconds.
In Gta5 press Home to "Retry connection", Now you're Online.
In Gta5 press P Online "Join Friends" and
30-40 seconds later you're playing gta5 with sound.

I use to go offline before press "Standby keys" or just close Laptop.
That way no strange messages appear.

30-40 seconds is way faster then 3min to 12 min to go online thats normally is the case.

Found an even simpler way. Just disable your speaker from the Playback settings.
1. Right click on the Sound Icon in the Taskbar (near the date and time on bottom left).
2. Open 'Sounds'.
3. Open the 'Playback' tab.
4. Right click the currently selected Audio Device (Speaker/ Headphone).
5. Click on 'Disable'.
6. Right-click on the same device and re-enable it.

You should be good to go.

what do you expect? The computer goes to sleep & stops the game also. It bugs it out cus it is abnormal to do this in the first place.

Thanks, this also seemed to do for SKLE and Fallout 4.
