Random explosion noises in the city

I've played the single player for a good chunk of time and always wondered, what are the random explosions happening in the city? I'm not online. Does anyone know?

Yeah, it usually occurs in Micheal de Santa's home and yes, it's most likely planes because one time in single player, I was driving down the road outside of his mansion and I saw a huge jet crashlanded onto top of a house! I blame you ISIS! Stop trying to terrorize people!

It's a bug since next gen versions of GTA5. Effectively what happens is a plane spawns overhead and it's meant to keep going forwards, but I guess either some spawn too low or they don't end up spawning with a pilot so they plummet and crash. Like Jakey says, it usually only happens when near Michael's safehouse. If you're fast enough and you go in the right direction, you find the parts of the blown up plane.

If you notice the world doesn't behave correctly beyond a certain distance from you. You can see this if you stand on top of the tall buildings. Planes, cars, etc all act very strange in the distance and sometimes they spawn inside of things, run into things, etc. This is the cause of the explosions.

Hmm, thats really interesting and actually makes sense. I'll have to keep my eye out for all of these weird situations.

was parked outside my hanger but 20 ft in the air

You know, same happened in GTA:San Andreas.NPC planes spawn in wrong places and crash immediately.Its sad that it was there for over a decade and still not fixed.

This happens to me too. I thought it was modding, but even when I play the game vanilla-style(verified cache, no scripts, etc.), I hear explosions. I usually hear them around Fort Zancudo. They may be planes or helicopters spawning without peds piloting them.

The npc fighter jets often crash into hillside... i see this several times.
