Rockstar activation code

I just installed Gta v and now I'm being asked for a Rockstar activation code, I've tried the cd key and that doesn't work. I checked on my email receipt and its not on there either. Steam support basically ignored my request so I was wondering if anyone on here knows how to get this code?

Where are you inserting the code? Are you going through STEAM or through the Rockstar launcher?

Has it 'never' activated the code? What 'exactly' is the error you are getting, and where? There are a couple different flavors of this error-

The cd key is the activation code. Normally you launch the game through steam, it opens the R* launcher, you fill out the info, the code is automatically input and off you go. Then there are problematic circumstances - issues with connectivity with you (dns, hosts, firewall, av/sec, isp, modem/router), steam, and R*, between steam and R*- this includes certain regions with worse connectivity issues. Some in the past have stated they went to the R* website and registered their cd key/added the game to their social club (be sure you do it on the correct account).

Then other oddball things in the past- just restart steam, waiting a bit (usually connectivity), date/time on pc being wrong, issues with the R* launcher, vcredists, steam - where it isn't detecting correctly, and the fun one - the steam account is already linked to a different social club due to a different R* game and you're trying a different one (you can't). Plenty of things to take into account with this error.

And then- the various activation errors after the above- you have problems with permissions, admin, onedrive, my documents, controlled folder access, non-default my documents, not using autologin/remember me, and the other things that simply cause issues with the game/files saved.

I'd be contacting R* and not steam in this situation if you wanted to skip everything above -

They even have a livechat button under purchase/activation, product activation, pc, contact us, and scroll down. Barring any of the above mentioned things interfering on your pc -should have no issue getting your problem resolved quickly.

@psykoteky you know i tried the restarting steam and the key worked so thanks for taking the time to help me out i just finished signing in to the game thanks again cheers
