Infinite Loading Screen GTA Online
For the past little while I have been experiencing an infinite loading screen bug whenever I try to load into GTA Online. I can load into the Story mode just fine but trying to load into Online mode from anywhere results in an infinite load time, no black screen or anything, just the usual load screen with the spinning wheel icon except it never loads, I have left it for hours and nothing happens. If anyone has some advice that you think could help me I would greatly appreciate it. I spent about a month back and forth with Rockstar, but they were completely useless.

verify game files? Remove any mods? Try going into an inv only session?

I have a similar problem but with story mode. 30+ minutes of waiting and the game never makes it past the loading screen ads.

Tried verifying game files, not playing with any mods.

That's weird, maybe it has something to do with spawn points being broken or something.

After looking on the website it shows a blacked out character, with zero experience or money, I'm assuming this means my character is broken, is there a way to reset my character or make a new one without entering the game?

So it could be NAT issues, or a few other things. with the limited details, Try this bandaid fix.

DO you know how to do the solo lobby trick?
If so do the solo lobby trick while stuck on the loading screen. If that works and get's you directly into a lobby, it's modders slowing you connecting or NAT.

use this link to setup port forwarding. don't download any software, skip the ads and it will give you step by step instructions on how to set it up and what ports it needs.

If you're not sure how to solo lobby trick, here from a reddit guide:
Method 1:

Windows users only (Not tested on anything else):

Open Task Manager when in an online session ALT-TAB out and open Task Manager and click the "Performance" tab. 1a. (Optional) If you can't find it via Task Manager press "Start" and type "Resource Monitor" (without quotes)

At the very bottom you should see a link called "Resource Monitor". Click that.

Click on the "Network" or "cpu" tab and find GTAV.exe (May differ on your computer, may not. Just a disclaimer)

Right click on GTAV and click "Suspend Process" and confirm.

Wait around 7-10 seconds and right click on GTAV and click "Resume Process" and confirm.

Method 2:

Windows users only (Not tested on anything else):

Find any online lobby

Hold LEFT ALT+ENTER for 10 seconds (screen may flicker, freeze or go black until you release)

Release

Watch people leave the lobby

Enjoy

If done correctly you should be able to see everyone leaving the lobby and you are all alone.

Unfortunately, this didn't work. Could it be an issue with my character being broken? If so is there a way to reset my character or even my entire account without actually entering GTA Online
I forgot to ask; did you try doing a fresh reinstall? Delete your entire GTA5 folder, empty the bin. Then uninstall and reinstall?

I have done multiple re-installs, but I haven't tried dumping my GTA5 folder, will it make a difference?

Yes. Doing a fresh reinstall install is important if something seems off like what's going with your game right now. I hope it works. If it doesn't. I'm going to say maybe it's your pc's fault.

If you can load to Story Mode, do that, then call up the pause menu (either Escape, or P, both work) and go to the Online tab, there you should see "switch characters", that may enable you to create a second toon. No idea, if it helps with your original character (the blacked one) out, but it's at least worth trying, if it helps, you could then try deleting your original (bugged) character while you're using the second one.

What didn't work? Be more specific

I fixed my problem by loading online mode and then it let me switch to story mode. At some point I was given a warning about saving ( which was confusing because... Had I loaded an old save and being forced to choose between the progress I made and the progress in the autosave I was about to overwrite? I couldn't tell why I was warned. )
