What will happen to heist prep if fail or quit

I finally made it to where I begin the Cayo heist alone. The prep missions alone were some work. I'm hesitant to begin though until I know something, that I can't find exact answer on Google.
I know that if I fail, I'll have option to restart. But, what if I failed a couple of times and I wanted to logout for the night? Will my prep work remain intact? I'm asking cuz I'm not sure I have 2 hours more left in me tonight, and if it takes too long to complete, I don't want to lose on the prep. Thanks!

Yeah, your heist progress should remain saved if you log off, or that's always been the case for me. I had diamonds in the vault for the Casino heist that I sat on for many months - fully ready to go, only the finale to be done - until I found a lower level player I wanted to share the bulk of the earnings with (I've got ample money at this point).
