I don't know anyone that 'smash and grabs' the main target and then leaves on cayo. It takes like 2 extra mins to get full loot bag even if you're solo and it's the easiest elite challenge in the game.

when a person playing the first time has to spend such a long time completing it.

I totally understand.

I recently just came back to playing GTA Online again. I did my very first Cayo Perico Heist a week ago and it took me over 8 hours to do just the Finale.

There went my free weekend. LOL!

I've done Cayo only once in Hard mode since after that. I don't see myself soloing it again anytime soon - been having fun with Agency update. Will be jumping to Auto Shop heists after.

Good luck on your Cayo run! :steamhappy:

Thanks. We did great! We goofed up once or twice (juggernaut!!!), but we just hit restart, knocked out cameras and guards, breezed to the vault, hit two rooms, hightailed it, and it was all good. OP even taught me an even better route of escape, since--true to the poor design--you're tricked into thinking that you have to choose your route of escape indicated by yellow marker...when you can just ignore the marker altogether and swim out to see regardless.

I'm thinking about doing Agency with my alt. It sounds like fun, and I really dug the finale I did the other day.

Then you haven't done enough heists as a random, especially with what seems like kids. Out of curiosity, I started joining heists to see how this "super l33t group of amazing Cayo Perico" players were running it and that's pretty much what they were doing. *shrugs*

lol only morons open up a soloable heist to randoms, that's why. Anyone that does that is likely looking for a carry.

Yep, that's kind of the sad reality of it simply because even though you need 2 people to get gold as loot the loot value for one person will always be the best if you're just that: one person. :) Gold should really weigh the same as coke so that 2 dudes could carry 4 of it.

Anyway it's interesting how "economics" really affect the matchmaking in a bad way.

- Since Cayo is the most lucrative when you do it solo you'll mostly find people who don't know what they are doing when you join a random Cayo.

- It's fairly hard to get started in the game money wise so when you want to do a heist with randoms you'll get a lot of noobs joining you who are simply looking for a handout. Then if you don't kick them they'll be the first to give up and leave anyway.

- Associate payouts are so bad that finding random people to do bodyguard work simply won't work, if you don't have friends who are willing to do that then you'll have to do all the business stuff alone, always.

Rockstar should really rebalance the economy, huh?

It's not so much that.

IMO, the biggest reason why "randoms" don't know how to do Cayo or any other heist is that none of the so-called "l33ts" take the time to walk anyone through it or have the tolerance for any mistake. They just want to make their elite challenges and "per hour" quota at any cost.

The best way for people to learn any heist is to just allow people to goof and restart. Usually even the noobiest noob will get better on the third try. But what happens is that hosts immediately rage quit as soon as someone goofs. They will even do that when the team has pretty much completed the main objective and only have to escape a location or leave the area. Randoms then are abandoned, left none the wiser about how to do it better the next time.

For example, last week I was on a Cayo. We got everything--the main objective, the secondary loot, everything. The first time he begged us to restart because we had "lost $500K." Then the second time we did it, the host actually rage quit when the alarms went off as we were escaping. If we goof, how about just showing us the best escape route rather than running off and basically saying, "Escape how you can?" Anyway, he rage quits the mission, leaving us to learn nothing in the process.

Then, because he's an OCD lunatic grinder, relaunches the heist so that he can try his luck with "better randoms," even though me and the other guy breezed through getting the second objectives and escaping the compound with no issue.

Yesterday, I do the heist with OP and I show him quickest route to room and how to clear out guards and cameras. He shows me the quickest and easiest route off the island. This is how you get better CP "randoms". Everyone takes the time to tolerate mistakes and show each other the ropes so that more and more randoms know all the tricks.

You're turning into what you hate before our very eyes.

Nope. I've only done this crap mission solo exactly three times since last year. Not eight times a day, a week or a month. Not 100 times, 200 times, 1,000 times. Not even 10 times.

And I will never, ever, ever do it solo ever again unless they're paying out double or triple GTA$. And even then, I would just do it the ONE time. I would rather gouge my eyes out than do prep/intel, etc. I've had so many people invite me to Cayo. As soon as I see "Intel" or "Prep" on the screen, I just NOPE the hell outta there. Not gonna do it. Nope. Nada. I love you and all, but N.O. I will gladly take the 15%, even though I know the compound like the back of my hand and can hack that fingerprint cloner in under two minutes. That's how much I HATE Intel/Prep.

When I said "more lucrative," I know what you're thinking, but this what I meant--making the MOST of each run so you DON'T have to KEEP doing it. Not just smashing and grabbing primary objective and running, then going back again and again.

Literally, the #1 reason why people "grind" this thing is that they're not patient enough to make the most of the island when they are there, especially as a team/group. So what happens is that they make the bare minimum at the heist, feel unsatisfied and keep going back for more and more and more. It's like a drug, where you buy just enough coke to keep you high but not enough to satisfy. So you keep going back.

With some of the heists I've seen, no WONDER people "grind." If you hit the airstrip =and= the compound with a partner, you would never, ever, ever have to grind this heist, like ever. You would just do Cayo maybe ONCE every couple of months. Not every day, every week, every month. But I've seen people ONLY scope the primary objective, not even get the gold, cash, paintings, anything, not even get stuff at the docks or aistrip. Those are the people who *only* make $900K-$1.2M and keep going back repeatedly, teaching others how to be the kind of losers who spend all day grinding.

What is better and satisfying? Taking an hour and FIFTEEN MINUTES to get $2.1M in one heist? Or rushing this thing in an hour and only getting $1.2M?

This entire synopsis is flawed. Honestly you just sound like a whiner.... if a grinder wants to grind, let 'em grind... what do you really care??? But for the love of Pete, don't try to pump up the exicitement, JUST BECAUSE YOU WENT ALONG LOL. You can take along a full crew of experts, and make a few more bucks sure, but it's just a few bucks more... It certainly doesn't change it to "lucrative". The game tells you to bring friends and do it that way....that in itself makes me want to do the opposite.

I'm playing it for the first time and it's so boring. I appreciate they made the effort to add content but my god, who thought it would be great to force players to spend so much time going around vision cones.

Grab a motorcycle...you can do much faster.....

BTW, who here has figured out that you can ride that bike right into Rubio's compound in set-up missions???
