Can't Relaunch GTAO After Quitting Once - "An Instance of Grand Theft Auto V is Already Running"
I decided to go from EGS to Steam in order to escape from this bug (and also because I just generally prefer Steam due to its numerous conveniences) but now it turns out I can't relaunch the game after selecting "Exit Online."

Leaving to GTA V and quitting from it doesnt work.
Verifying integrity of game cache didnt work.
Closing steam, opening it again, then launching GTA V again didnt work.
Disallowing Rockstar Games Launcher from booting on startup didnt work.
Forcing RGL to launch as admin didnt work.
Forcing GTA V to launch as admin (alongside above) didnt work (though Windows never prompts me about launching the game in admin, guess that's RGL's job)
Searching for GTA V in Task Manager to try and end it doesn't work (in fact, it doesn't even appear after a quit despite RGL believing otherwise)
Reinstalling the game didn't work.

And I have likely tried numerous other fixes. Anyone encounter the same or a similar problem and know any solutions?

UPDATE: Looks like uninstalling Logitech GHub resolved it.
UPDATE 2, 1/13/2022: Issue occurred again, but was easily resolved when I input "taskkill /f /im gta5.exe" in Command Prompt launched as admin.

You also didn't mention steam itself as admin (and of course +r* launcher, social club, and gtav - which some users have needed to do).

Problems with vcredists can also cause same/similar behavior as above - and IIRC - some of those did not show gtav in taskmanager (some stating taskkill /f /im gta5.exe (or pid) from admin command prompt could close it). I'd likely suggest an AIO to uninstall/clean/reinstall them vs doing the manual uninstall/reinstall or repair dance which does not always work.

This is the info I've used since the launcher release to fix many.. many.. of these -

edit - as for ghub, and/or those that need it -
"**April2021? - Note -- some version of ghub are currently preventing gtav from closing correctly, possibly also keeping the launcher from closing correctly, possibly updating correctly - and making other troubleshooting issues worse. Force close, update, or uninstall it while testing. 2020.11.9270 <--- I am (still) on this version 'without issue' currently." ----- more investigation later on = the game throws an error code in the log when crashing, and takes up space with .dmp files - but it doesn't prevent the game from closing entirely.

Yknow I never considered Logitech GHub. Do you think closing GHub (or maybe even uninstalling - don't really use it that much anyway) would help?

Besides that, damn is it incredible how much work you've put into resolving this issue. Glad I decided to post about this in Steam Discussions or else I wouldn't have found you. I appreciate all the advice, though I've come to a bit of a neutral solution: just force close GTA V in task manager. If I need to save I can easily just leave to GTA V itself before closing. It doesn't resolve the issue entirely, but it does let me relaunch GTA V after closing. I'll try and see if your suggestions work when I have the time though, likely over this weekend as I have MLK Jr Day off. I'll start today to see if uninstalling GHub does anthing.

Update: Amazingly enough? GHub was the problem. Didn't use it much anyway. Working fine now, can quit and relaunch without issue. Thank you!
Playing on EGS in 2025. It's insane other programs like G-Hub can cause these issues.

For me, I found logging off and back on allows me to replay the game. But I was still annoyed at having to do that. I just tried quitting G-Hub and staying in windowed mode until passed the warning page on saving icons and such. It works well! Thank-you
