if you have a real xbox controller then it will just switch to it once you plug it in, if not you may need to use some 3rd party programs to get it to work right.

She had it working before on another weaker pc, since i replace it with a better pc and for some reasons, the system or steam, w/e that is mention "no controller detected" So i dont know if should download a driver or let windows do the update.

Should work automatically, like plug n play. Not sure what going on, its her thing. She doesnt like using keyboard and mouse on this game. We use to play together on PS4, but i threw mine in the garbage and she still has her old one i bought for her. The reasons she play on pc, cause dont have to waste more money like playstation network to play online.

Nah not the real xbox contoller, its a compatible one for pc too. I told her, gotta keep those cable/wire conected tho, doesnt have a receiver to play remote or wireless like Xbox or PS4 does.

Also had to grab a rubber band to wrap the cable, pull back to keep the cable in the controller.

not that it matters but the blutooth on the xbox controller doesn't work for every game either. and the ps4 needs a 3rd party program too. so i have to keep both plugged in at all times.
look up third party controller apps like i said.

Steam should recognise most controllers.

Yeah should have, unless the controller and/or cable hooked to USB is damage.

Change controller settings on steam conf section.

This is going to sound weird, everything was fine except one thing. She had this wireless mouse, that use small USB chip instead to plug in USB port. So she removed it and the controller worked fine.

Never though of that, but finally she get to play!

I had the same problem when I started using my wireless XBOX gamepad on Win10.

I could only use either the wireless gamepad adaptor or the wireless keyboard and mouse adaptor at any given time. Can't have both.
