You're going to be really depressed when you go to the island then.
Lower some settings, online is very cpu heavy. If you monitor per core usage you have 1-2 cores peaking out. Overclock if you can.
Question for OP: Are you running MSI afterburner or anything to overclock your gpu? what is the speed or your computer's ram and how much ran u got? You should be getting better fps than you are imo. I have an old amd8120 with ddr3 12gb ram and a gtx1060 6gb that can get 40 fps online with decent detail settings. I think something is wonky with your setup or hardware maybe if you are getting only 40 fps online. If you aren't running even a mild overclock on your gpu, perhaps try that to get back the fps loss since the cayo update.
Yes I have experienced about a 10 fps drop online since the cayo update. This may be due to the fact the island is part of the same server as the main map, even though a cut scene is needed to 'travel' to it. The additional map size and poor optimization is possibly the culprit.
