Am I the only one content with them NOT making GTA 6...?
Like... Don't get me wrong, I'd like it. But I'd prefer the GTA online we have now. Is it perfect? Hell no. But look at what they did to Red Dead Online.

Basic things now cost way more then they're supposed to. GTA online sure things can be pricey but in RDO you gotta buy say a collector's kit, then buy all the stuff like the shovel and whatnot on-top of that price. Things that are practically necessary to use for half the things the collectors kit is for.

Plus premium currency on top of battle passes? Yeah, no.

We should all know whenever game company's start putting these things in their games, it's bad news. With RDO they're just testing the waters with it. And they're getting worse with it (the majority of good items in rdo or just most items in general cost gold over instead of cash. Trying to push you to pay for gold. Sure you can earn gold normally, but let's not forget they recently DECREASED the amount you earn by doing daily challenges. (Use to be .3 per challenge on streak 0, now is .1. so on so fourth.)

And the battle pass? Yeah no. Idk about everyone else, but personally I hate games that time gate items. (And now skills to!) All to push you to pay cash. Sure it's a lotta time given to complete it (despite it again, lowering your gold back payout so if you completed the pass, you can get all the gold you spent on it back. Now you can't.) But that's still not the point. PC players didn't even get a chance to get the outlaw pass 1 stuff. Now we can never get it again.

This may seem like I'm talking more about red dead then GTA 6. But like I keep saying. This is all just testing the waters.

GTA 6 I'm scared will be even worse. idk what sorta system they will implement, but let's face it: this is rockstar and 2K we're talking. It ain't gonna be consumer friendly.

Is GTA 5 online perfect? Far from it. But I'll take it over anything like what I'm fearing GTA6 is gearing up to be.

(Plus ngl I am kinda still looking forward to a mansions and/or naval update in the future ...)

"Am I the only one..."

yes, yes you are. the only one.

I've played RDO for 150h and I have all roles unlocked and everything bought for them, every gun I want and the best horse.

Never bought gold. It's easy to make. You would have said the same thing if you played GTAO at launch cause Pacific Standard was the best way to make money. I wonder how you would have fared doing PS for 150k a pop to buy a Hydra.

Oh, and stop making things up. The only thing that require gold outside of role unlocks are cosmetics, and most of them are garbage anyway. You can buy all guns and all horse types without gold. Shovels, metal detectors, bounty wagons etc, none require gold.

I largely agree, but am also very curious with what they'll do in GTA6, specifically the story side. Seeing the detail of the world and fleshed out characters in RDR2, there's so much potential, especially in regard to world scale compared to what we have now with Los Santos. I know it's only rumor at this point, but if they do elect to return to Vice City (ideally greatly expanding the land area to something closer to GTA San Andreas), in my mind they could do an amazing hurricane event that floods and alters the whole map, while also perhaps having interludes that go back in time to the era of Tommy Vercetti.

However, when RDR2 first came out for PC, I dove into Red Dead Online excited to see what lessons Rockstar took from GTA Online and how they might evolve things. I was sorely disappointed, and for many of the same reasons you listed above. Fundamentally, it struck me that they feel players weren't nudged enough into purchasing Shark Cards, plus many of the activities in RDO feel crudely copy/pasted from GTA Online into RDO with little revision. The problematic peer-to-peer networking remains, only now we can't make an invite lobby directly, and for whatever reason they disabled text chat. Cheaters seem to have as little fear there as they currently do in GTA Online about punishment. It's so bizarre those areas get a pass given the effort they clearly put into designing/modeling the intricate details of the clothing, horses, gun cosmetics, etc.

So, after that experience, I am trying to get as much fun as I can out of the current GTA Online, because what comes in GTA6 Online I feel will probably be far worse. I imagine there's Rockstar producers internally saying they've been too generous again with regard to earning gold in RDO, even after the change of resetting daily streaks after 30 days. A special premium currency and battle passes are more or less assured for GTA6 Online, at least that's my belief.

I miss the days when multiplayer games were designed first and foremost to be fun. Instead we have missions that are intentionally crafted to annoy and feel grueling to increase money card sales, and the fundamental design methodology is more akin to creating a slot machine. Keep people playing but also keep people paying.

I guess neither of you have played it since the bounty hunter role update. You can get like .5 gold from a mission you can solo in 10 minutes.

Gold is 100% grindable, fast.

I don't disagree that may be the case and do respect players who go all-in earning everything without spending a red cent, but I play games to be entertained, not grind. When I'm done with work for the day, I want to have fun.

I see the same thing all the time but no one ever answers this.

If you don't enjoy the base gameplay, why do you even want to play? Cause that's all "grinding" is.

Compared to my total play time in GTAO, my RDO is nothing and I already have all the essentials. Double Mausers, Carcano, Lichfield, Semi-auto shotty, improved bow, all camp upgrades, all collector upgrades, all trader upgrades and a bounty wagon. Just about to start Moonshiner, already have the 25 gold, just been busy with other stuff.

I've played red dead as well. I've gotten everything so far all without spending a penny past the base price of the game. I do like red dead online (despite it kinda drying up content wise as of late) and as for GTA 5, I've been playing since it's PS3 days. I still remember when the beach bum update came out back when the biggest flex in the game was owning the Z type and adder in all chrome and/or pink or whatever.

However that's not the point.

It's not that these things exist that truely worry me. It's how far rockstar will take it and to what extent. RDO is still pretty early in its lifecycle and we have already seen some nerfs to the biggest aspects of its money making style all in favor of trying to sell more gold bars.

I worry rockstar will start pushing things like that more and more, y'know the saying, 2 steps forward, one step back? That kinda thing.

I worry how it will effect GTA 6 and it's online mode when/if it ever comes out.

When they start selling best guns and horses for gold, then I'll care. Until then, it doesn't bother me. People stupid enough to buy fake money deserve to be milked.

Like I said, I do wanna see what they will do with the story and characters. That's not my concern. I am kinda iffy on going back to vice city, just cause unlike San Andreas, it is a very limited play area with literally everywhere being either beach or city and no in-between but still.

I just worry about the online mode. So sick of good games getting crippled cause the company's decide to favor quantity over quality... Quantity being in this case, how much they can milk the players out of their money, where if anything GTA online so far is only really milking them outta their time.

Least on PC with all the modders and cash drops...

I've enjoyed the GTA series since Vice City - often just messing around, seeing how long I could survive with a max wanted level. I got into GTA Online because I liked the racing and also had some friends that told me the heists were fun, back when it was the original ones and Doomsday was just out. I do still enjoy the gameplay in terms of the world being a theme park with an incredible variety of things to do, both with friends and solo. It's one of a kind in that way and a genuinely great achievement.

However, I believe in Rockstar's quest to get as many people as possible to dip their toes in the water by offering online play and the associated DLCs for "free" they've corrupted their approach to game making and quality assurance, while rather arrogantly basking in their financial success. Given the ample profit they've made they could surely assign a small team of devs to polish up aspects that are widely complained about, like the broken Titan sell mission. It's almost as though things like that, plus the anti-cheat, are simply a joke to them. To avoid going off on a truly wild tagent, I'll just say I respect what Rockstar was and have fond memories of the fun I've had with their titles, but things have changed drastically since the release of GTAV and what I experienced of RDO doesn't give me optimism for the future. A shame since the open worlds they create are still the absolute best and, in that area, I do still expect their leadership and remarkable skill to continue.

I just want some damn single player content. Vehicle insurance and storage space at the LEAST like come on...
Messsucher Jan 19, 2021 @ 11:47pm
Interesting point of view. Indeed we could assume that they could make GTA6 online worse. Have to say I am not in a hurry to get GTA6, I haven't even finished with GTA5, and I have Red Deads completely undone, 1/4 done in Red Dead Revolver, Bully 1/5 done, L.A. Noire undone, Max Paynes undone, if they added achievements to GTA4 need to get them all, Vice City and San Andreas new refreshing playthroughs undone. I need to get GTA6 when I am done with all the previous, before that EVVK.

That's where the thing is: People are discontent about GTA 6 taking so long not because of online (although GTAO and RDO are quite ♥♥♥♥, let's be honest), but because of single-player.

Hopefully you're the only one.

I have no interest whatsoever in GTA Online, so I'd really like some new content. Hasn't been anything GTA related since the game originally released almost 8 years ago!
