Can I play on both versions?
If I have steam version installed on my pc, and my brother that has epic games version of gta and he wants his own account in gta v from the pc, is it possible? To have 2 gta v versions on the pc, 2 accs? Will it be possible to launch them?

Yes but I think you need 2 monitors and 2 controllers, otherwise you control both games with the same controller. but perhaps you could do windowed mode on half the screen each and change keybindings so one use left side of keyboard and one use right side of the keyboard?

I have 2 xbox controllers connected to my computer but I only have one copy of the game. I can use both controllers to play the game.

Davkr1 Yes, it is possible. Just remember to have both copies installed in different folders (as sharing a single game folder for both versions won't work).

The steps i found it by just googling: <Share GTA V Game Files Between Steam and Epic Games> by leo3418 May 15, 2020

But here are the steps just without mages.

Steps to Share GTA V Game Files Between Steam and Epic Games:

We are using the MKLINK command on Windows to create a link to the existing game files. The link works as if the linked files and folders are exactly there, but it occupies very little space.Another thing it's that you always will need to remove 3 files from the epic version when you want to switch back to the steam version.
So you need to create somewhere else a folder to create backups of these 2 versions. The Steam Version Backup contains only the 2 .exes and the Epic Version Backup contains also 2 .exes and the .egstore folder.
These are the only critical files that differ between the copies of GTA V downloaded from Steam and Epic Games.

STEPS:

1.-Download GTA V in Epic Games.
You will be prompted to choose an installation path. Select whichever path you want to use, and take note of this path location. Example my predetermined path it's "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\GTAV"

2.-Then after you see the download starts just pause the download (GTA V installation should say resume in your EPIC library).

3.-Now Quit Epic Games Launcher. Ignore the warning about cancelling installation.

4.-Go to the GTA V installation path you took note in step 1, and move the .egstore folder to somewhere else. You can for example just move it to the Epic Games Folder.

5.-Then, delete the GTAV folder.

6.-Find out where Steam stored GTA V game files. Open up game properties for GTA V in Steam, click on “Browse Local Files” under the “Local Files” tab, and remember the path shown in the file explorer. Click on the address bar to copy the full path. For example my predetermined path it's: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V"

7.-Now Copy GTA5.exe and PlayGTAV.exe in Steam’s GTA V installation to somewhere else, and clearly label them as game files downloaded from Steam. For example, I would put those files in a folder with name Data for the Steam Version.

8.-Start command prompt as administrator.

9.-Run command mklink /D "<Epic Games Path>" "<Steam Path>" to create a link to Steam’s game files for Epic Games. Fill in the paths with values you got in step 1 and step 6 respectively. Remember to wrap the values in double quotes. From the /D and the epic path its one space and from the 2 paths it's another space.

*After running the command, you should see the link created in Epic Games’ game
installation path*

10.-Move the .egstore folder in step 4 back into GTAV.

*If for some kind of reason you have an error trying to insert the file inside this linked
folder, delete the linked folder and create again the folder with the step 9.*

11.-Start Epic Games Launcher. If the download progress is paused, resume it manually. Then, you should see it verifying files for GTA V, which indicates success! Wait until it completes.

12.-Once GTA V is ready to play from Epic Games, visit the folder storing GTA V game files again, copy GTA5.exe and PlayGTAV.exe similarly as in step 7, but copy again the .egstore folder too and put them in your backup folder by label them for example Data for the Epic Version. These 3 files are necessary at least for me, the original tutorial says only the 2 exes, but if the epic store don't show the game to launch it, try to insert this .egstore folder again.

--Now you finally can use your epic account with your steam data files, now if you
want to switch back to steam, just remove the 3 files from the epic version, and just
insert the .exes from the backup for the steam version. Now open the steam launcher
and verify the game data from the launcher before opening the game.

--Make sure you sign out your old Social Club account from Rockstar Games Launcher
and clear the cache from the RG Launcher before switching platforms to avoid any
kind of issues.

--Both Steam and Epic Games launch perfectly but it requires a verification of the files
each time you switch platforms as it will ask for activation on steam or refuse to
even launch on epic if you don't verify.

--This method its very slow and tedious, not really helpful if you want to switch faster,
because if you don't have an ssd the verifying game files can take long, but i don't
have so much space so this is something XD

Greetings.

how do you unlink? I already deleted my GTAV on my Epic Games folder. And when I try to launch GTAV by adding a desktop shortcut, it's redirecting me to Epic Game Store.
