Grand Theft Auto V Coming to New Generation Consoles in 2021
Expanded and Enhanced with New Features and Content

As recently revealed at Sony’s PlayStation 5 digital event, the adventures of Michael, Franklin and Trevor are coming to a new generation of consoles, including PlayStation 5, in the second half of 2021.

The new generation versions of GTAV will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.

And for the massive and vibrant community of Grand Theft Auto Online players worldwide, the journey through the ever-evolving, shared world of GTA Online will continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC. There will also be a new standalone version of GTA Online coming in the second half of 2021, which will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months.

Additionally, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get GTA$1,000,000 (deposited into their in-game Maze Bank account within 72 hours of log-in) each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5.

How should i understand that? in their first announcement, they said its coming to next-gen consoles AND pc. Now, in the second link, rockstar just mentioned the consoles and there is a Q&A where strauss said they havent announced anything about pc version. WTF ROCKSTAR & T2

Judging from their track record, I have a feeling the PC won't get ANY of the "enhanced and expanded" features. We will just get a couple "next gen exclusive" t-shirts or something.

This is just my reading the tea leaves, but I feel it's 99% sure the new enhancements will come to the PC version and the release date announcement they posted actually gives me hope it won't be as long a wait as might have potentially been. Specifically, the new version will drop a solid month before they typically put out the big winter DLC for GTA Online. My expectation is that DLC will be released only for the new console edition and PC, and seeing as it's likely that some aspects of that DLC will be tied to the engine changes, that's why I figure there's a reasonable chance the PC version will be updated within that window. Again, merely my own speculation, but I doubt they'd treat PC as an odd branch build for very long compared to getting the core assets as unified as possible, especially if they've been successful reworking GTAV to use the RAGE engine of RDR2.

LOL what do you think they are getting exactly? They are simply bringing console versions up to the hardware abilities. PC players have had this since day one.

Ironically R* will just inform us that WE had the Expanded and Enhanced version all along, and they just brought the Console Versions up to par with the PC version.

So in other words - PC online users, who have supported the game since its release, are going to get the "drib drabs" content - the "Milk these cows more" content, additional bs vehicles/ garbage additions to the already not played and garbage game modes.

Sigh - really is typical of rockstar + this game.

Amazing how this game still gets Very positive reviews, any other game would be slaughtered lol.

But yea, the new "car show mode" - sounds like he only saving grace, as the SANE thing rockstar should do by now, is release some kind of "PVE" system/server - where people can actually relax together, game together, show off cars and drag race on the air strip together.

You know, how the game was itended.

I thought the PC version is just the best version and consoles had the gimped version since they couldn't run the game maxed out. With limited ram they couldn't have all the bells and whistles PC could support so like with the 360 and PS3 the console versions were simply running lower settings with less features. Then PS4 and xbone came out and that had more features, but it was still obviously running the game on settings below what is possible on PC.

I'm assuming these new features will simply be just be ticking the "high" to "very high" for them. I'd be impressed if it was an actual overhaul feature like the FPS function, but I don't expect them to do anything to overhaul the game like rebuild it in a new engine or anything that doesn't already exist for PC. It'll be things the consoles prior didn't have before.

If I know correctly, this re-realse is its own version, like X360 PS3 is not Xbox One/PS4. And they abandon the PC. typical.

My guess is that the PC release of GTAO standalone will be the 9th Gen port/remake. If I absolutely had to put money on how it'll go, I'm going to guess it'll be a $20 purchase but Steam players w/GTAV will get a modest deal via a Steam coupon (no more than 25% off). Maybe some slightly higher resolution environment textures and the potential for an experimental raytracing mode that just makes shiny surfaces shinier and gives the game a hazy bloom.

Literally the only way that Rockstar can expand and enhance this game is by getting rid of modders. Otherwise I don't really care.

there might be more to this than anyone thinks, if anyone thinks logically as i do. how do they get us excited about an "enhanced version" of the game, if they are not going to do anything about the hackers/modders who will surely be waiting at the gate to ruin the experience? maybe they intend to do something about it, they certainly should think of what exactly they are going to do before releasing it, because the "secret" that the online only version of the game is chock full of hackers/modders/cheaters, has been out for quite some time. so be of good hope guys, maybe (MAYBE DAMMIT) they will actually factually do something. will it last? doubt it, but then, i am not a hopeful person
